Don' tknow what's all going down. My copmuter was running PS:T great all the while ago but now it's just lagging uncontrollaby like.. getting 30 fps to a mere 4 or 5. I tried to put it in full screen and watched for indiscrepencies and my whole desktop (icons and everything) flickered randomly, obvously the cause of the slowness.

Any ideas? I don't have a crap computer and as I said, the game was working fine. I really would like to play this game again without everyhting bogging down.

Not sure what happened there. Could it be something running in the background for your pc? About your PS:T installation, does it have any fixed/patched applied?

I've tried it before and after the patches, and the 1.33 (or whatever patch that's made by player) as well as before and after and noticed no change. I use the four disk set. If you can't figure out the problem or need more info from it, im me on shanghiaixiah on aim or shanghiaixia@hotmail.com for msn. I'd really like to pinpoint this because I was really looking forward. And then just to haev this.. ugh.. worst feeling in the world.

From your description, your system looks good. Could it then be something running in the background? Perhaps some spyware, etc? Something that could possibly happened after the last time PS:T was working fine?

Nope. I defragged recently (past week) and it's still doing it. I tried running a spy ware check and found some of course but still nothing fixes it.

The most I can tell you is when.. umm.. let's see. I compressed my whole c:/ (without knowing the effects of doing so could be bad) uncompressed it, windows couldn't find some files (aka they were unusable) put in the windows xp cd and it closed automatically and ever since then it's been screwing up.

Any of my other software runs fine so I really don't see how that could be a problem.I I can run it in full screen and still get the lag. As I said, it just happend out of the ordinary.

Maybe it's the graphics driver. The newer versions aren't that great with older games. Rolling it back a few versions (56.72 is a good one I think - but make sure it's compatible with the FX5200) might fix the problem.

Not to be rude but err.. how do I go about 'rolling back'.

You can download a graphics card driver off of the Nvidia website.

It supports up to the 5700 cards, so it should be fine with your system.

Yeah but my video card is a 7200 fx, you just said it only went up to 5400 or so.

You said in a previous post that your graphics card was a 5200...

Oh..er.. sorry.. Heh. I got it mixed up with the video card I'm going to get soon. I'll try it and let you know.

I regret to inform you that the problem actually got -worse- if you can believe it.

Not that this is any consolation to you, but if it does get worse then it could really be caused by the graphic card driver. As Ravager mentioned, they can be a mismatch...
(eg i'm running Diablo2 using direct2D on my Geforce card, having problem on its direct3D)...

DO you still have your installation cd for the graphic card? Try using the default driver.....

What I don't understand is why it would get worse all of the sudden; It can't be the graphic thigs because I never even updated the drivers during that time.
