does you computer meet the game requirements? ill bet you anything you have a below avarage graphics or video card. clcik on configure, and anything that you see that has red next to it does not meet game protocol

if you do meet the system requirements, try downloading the patches (the links can be found on the download page on the main kotor2 part of the gamebanshee site)

Hmm, if the patch doesn't work, try disabling the movies. Bad I know, but it worked for me, and the bug that made me unable to begin the game.

I have exactly the same problem. My computer is theoretically well above the requirements, but it just isn't up to the game. I'm guessing you are stuck not long after taking control of T3, yes?

However, there IS a way round it, if you are patient.

1) Save. Exit. Close KOTOR2. Reopen the game. DON'T TRY TO MOVE.
2) Turn on the spot, without moving forward ot backwards. Note the frame rate you get . Find the way which gives you the fastest frame rate.
3) Turn your character so that you are facing the direction where you got the highest frame rate.
4) Now STAY facing that way as you move around. Don't touch the A or D key (assuming you use default keys). Only use W,S,Z and C.

It does work, though there are times and places in the game where it is damned tedious. But I'm nearly finished my 7th time through, in spite of it.

it must be a bug that is specific to certain graphics cards then cos my computer is above spec in everything but the graphics card, yet it works fine on highest graphics settings and highest resolution with absolutely no problems like that. i've played through the game 3 or 4 times and never come across any bugs at the start, and certainly no bugs that make it impossible to continue.

edit: and graphics related problems don't necessarily prevent the game from starting. in my experience, a lot of the time graphics problems don't materialise until you are already playing the game.

Probably. What makes it especially annoying is that my graphics card is one that is specifically listed as OK. Grrrrr... When I do a hardware check, the game recommends I use quite high graphics settings, yet in many places it runs at 2-3 fps... (but even that is better than KOTOR, where Dantooine runs at about 20 frames per minute)

Did my suggestion work?

It requires a LOT of patience to complete the game when you have this problem, but, I promise, it can be done.

It will happen in a number of other places: outdoors on Dantooine, in the main areas of Telos Station (especially the..er...(tries to avoid spoiler)...second time you have to visit it), in a place called the Jekk Jekk Tarr and on...er...a ship you visit late in the game and the surface of the last planet you ever come to...
