Before anything... you might want to go and have a chat with the fighter's guild steward in the Ald'ruhn chapter...
He'll give you the lowdown as to what is going on.
I don't generally join the fighter's guild, but from what I gather there is a way to bypass this conflict. I know it has been covered here, so maybe some searching will dig up the threads in question.

well see the quest is somthing about killing two people stealing from an ebony mine(i think) and she mentions that the theives guild shouldnt be involved. and then says that if i dont tell anyone then no one will know. the kinda winkwink nudgenudge sorta way.
But i was thinking if i Taunted the two and they attacked me first it wouodnt be considered murder so sugar lips wouldnt care.

The quest to kill the people in this case won;t cause you to lose membership in the theives guild. At least I can't ever remember it affecting anything.
There is, however, a quest that if you do it for the fighters guild will result in you being kicked out of the thieves guild. My advice is to conentrate on the thieves guild quests first, then do the fighters guild quests. At a certain point, one of the theives guild quests will provide you with a work around for the conflicting fighters guild quest.

hmmm reading over the main morrowind III page, and mentions that the current fighter guild leader is "evil" *skritches head and reads more* i think i may just boot myself from the fighters guild despite the love of quests XP

go to the fighters guild in ald'ruhn then that guy straightens you out, and eventually you get a quest that you have to go to the guildmaster (in vivec i think) and you have to pursuade him or something, idk, but you just kill him then from taunting and you become the guildmaster of fighters guild.

Caldera quest do not have any impact on relations with the Thieves Guild - Fire-Eye clearly states that it was not the Thieves Guild job, so the Guild protection do not extend on the people involved.

Besides, all people inside the cave would attack you on just sight, so would do one outside if you mentioned certain key phrase.

There are two episodes when the Guild interests actually conflict. The first is the s.c. Code Book quest (seerch for Code Book on forums), and the second is Hard-Heart's last quests. Though there is a couple of ways to solve first problem with both sides content, regarding the second you should listen to Percius Mercius if you wished to be the Master of both guilds. (It's worth to consult with Percius Mercius often anyway.)
