master vrook

I've read that he's hard, I've tried pretty much all the clues I could pick up from the forum/shrine, but there's one more thing. Whenever he gets below 50% hp, he starts healing, always one but often 2x 54 hp heals. so I'm basically back to scratch. How on earth am I supposed to finish him off if he starts healing up whenever I might get a chance to finish him off. Can't face him one on one melee cause then he is slaying me (this is my first planet after telos btw. no lightsaber).

This guy is spoiling my fun, I am an evil bastard and I need him dead. Anyone care to explain if I use the obstacles the wrong way to ninja in some 'kill's on him (my only offensive force). Can't see my tactics are full of flaws so I basically don't know what more I can do. tried some adhesive grenades and then nuking him with frag grenades but he still slay me when he's out of the kite.

Any tips/tricks would be appreciated, I hate when I face the wall, like I'm doing now.

Thanks, bob

are you sure you can't get your lightsaber yet? first time through i did dantooine as my first planet and i had my lightsaber before facing him. i got a piece from fighting visas, a piece on telos, and another piece from the salvager you rescue/kill in the ruins sublevel. then you just go back to bao-dur before going back to tell the mercenaries everything is ready. if you have an earlier save it may be worth doing this as it makes life so much easier. also, the trick i used was to go to the inventory screen to use medpacs as they heal instantly that way, rather than do it realtime. also, he only heals himself a few times so eventually he runs out of force points and then you can just lay into him and use medpacs to keep yourself healthy. also, equip and use the most powerful energy shield you have and keep renewing it the minute it runs out as this will protect from the energy damage from his lightsaber. also, the dexterity and stamina boosting stimulants would be useful as these will increase your vitality points and your defence level.

edit: what class are you playing, what weapon are you using, is it modified, and what armor are you wearing? modified armor with reduced energy damage from one of the overlays/underlays would be useful too.

thanks for your answer, I'm using the robe where you get +1 to 3 stats str/dex/con (if I'm not mistaken), headgear is immune to crits (as he hit me for like 120 dmg - can only take one blow like that 2 then I'm dead), vibroblades with +4 dmg +1 stat and the offhand I'm using massive criticals.

I'm a lvl 14 guardian force specced as follows (kill, plague, knight speed, body jing/yang thingie(split force/health), dominate mind, and scream) that's pretty much what I can recall atm.

since I have no saber I guess I might aswell equip some heavier armour with resistances, thanks for pointing that out. I assume his lightsaber deals energy dmg :D

I went into the force regen stance so that I could cast my kill more often, but I guess he regens force for his heals as fast as I can cast them. I used my arkanian shields as much as I could but it's the heals that spoil my game, basically. he did it like 5-6 times, when I thought I had him :)

I guess my best shot would be getting the lightsaber, this visas shows up in my ship ? I explored it all and can't recall meeting anyone but my team members.

once you get the cutscene where she is sent to find you, she appears on your ship and you have a brief fight with her - you just have to keep getting on and off the ship til she turns up. the cutscene where she is sent to find you happens when you start getting reasonably far towards one alignment, i'm guessing in your case this would ds if you are fighting vrook.

if you equip the lightsaber with your crystal from the shyrack caves then it makes it a very useful weapon (also, throughout the game if you ask kreia about the cystal every now and then she will be able to make it even more powerful). i found when i did a ds sentinel against vrook that force powers were pretty much a waste of time. the best thing i found was to rely on melee to take him out, although he does do a lot of damage each hit sometimes.

many thanks to you, I guess my light saber will do the difference :) removing my offhand vibro also. I seem to miss my flurry a lot, I will have to remedy that in a change of fightplan, died when I charged him head-on again ;>

your welcome :) with flurry too, remember that it reduces your chance to hit as well as give more attacks unless it is the highest flurry feat in which case there are no disadvantages to it. i think i used flurry too. if you are having trouble hitting then try increasing your strength if you have items available (or dex if you have lightsaber finesse) as this will increase your hit rolls.

edit: i just finished fighting him again with dantooine as my first planet. the trick to stopping him from healing is hit him hard and fast with as much damage as possible. i made my lightsaber so it did as much damage as it possibly could, boosted up on stimulants, made sure a shield was activated all the time, gave myself protection from critical hits and i took him down (after 4 reloads lol) in 3 hits in the end. if you do a lot of damage per hit and have a high hit roll then he barely has a chance to heal himself. i also used the lightsaber form that is especially for use against jedi.

when i first arrive on that planet i lay mines where he appears later on, and some more either side of the room. this way you won't even have to hit him, just get him to chase you through those mines.
not a very thrilling experience but an easy one.

never thought about laying stuff like mines (where you fight vrook) before starting the mercenary/settler battle. doubt i'd do it as it seems like cheating a little as you wouldn't know that is where you would face vrook, but its a handy tip if anyone is struggling with him. i've never done any other planet first as ds, are the other masters as hard as vrook if you do them first or is vrook just a pain to kill lol?

I find Vrook the hardest especially whjen I do Dantooine first.

If you want to use mines to kill him (I find that the best way) you don't have to lay them first. You can actually dodge round the back of the room, near the trees, benches etc. until you get far enough away that he 'forgets about you' and stands still. Then equip a stealth field generator, and stealth about setting your best mines. After which, take generator off and show yourself to him, then run over the mines while he follows :) *bang*

The healing doesn't go on forever, either. He uses Force Healing powers, not medpacs, and will eventually get Force depleted. You regenerate Force faster than him, IME. Just keep running round and round the outside of the room, losing him again and again, healing yourself and using stims... basically, defeating Vrook is a case of playing 'Here we go round the mulberry bush'. For ages. Never let him get close enough to hit you. He hits too hard..

if you make sure you are immune to critical hits, he doesn't hit quite so hard :) i don't think i could just run around and around. would feel wrong somehow. i like taking him in a straight fight, it just takes a lot of planning equipment wise and a few reloads while you experiment with the equipment you are carrying until you are equipped with the best you have for the encounter and then its quite a fun lightsaber battle. i wonder why vrook is so much harder than the rest though. i thought the guy on onderon was supposed to be the one that came up with all the plans etc. and that was kind of the 'leader' of the masters so i would have thought he'd be harder. mind you i do onderon last usually so that may have a lot to do with it lol.

If your CON is 18 use an Immunity D-Package since it makes you immune to everything if not then use the Retinal Combat Implant for critical attacks, Have Master Critical Strike since Critical Strike can take down even the strongest opponent, it also stuns by a small chance, use Battle Meditation, Master Speed, and a Battle Stim if you have them to improve you attacks and combat speed, Also Force Barrier & Energy Resitance greatly helps, and use Makashi Form when facing any Jedi or Sith with a Lightsaber.
