Playing without disk!

Well, I haven't got as far actually playing without the disk, but I have been able to access menus and such. Is this a functuality of the game I have missed, or simply to do with me having downloaded the CEP?

As far as I know, this was on the latest update. I don't have CEP and I play without the disk too.

My diamond version insists on a cd. Is there any way around this?

My (european, french actually) diamond version never asked for the CD, but I installed everything when it asked for (minimal, recommended or everything I think).
Edit :
Now that I see the post below, it's true that at the time, I upgraded right away (patch 1.66 IIRC).

My diamond version insisted on one, too, until I downloaded a patch... but that was several weeks ago ( not the most current 1.68, but it should be included in that patch ).
