I just finished of the icecastle and came to the whispering village and sofar
im amazed over the power this party has in fights. My rogue has sofar, stabbed
in total for close to 40 in a hit. My druid can take a beating when in bearform
and does nice damage when buffed by Bulls Strength and using Rage. She took
the beating from 4 barbs before having to heal for quiet some time.

My mage on the other hand seems to have problems getting "Hold Person" to
work even agaisnt the most simple enemies, why this, i cannot understand.
This is however my first wizard in a party, i prefer Halfelf Sorc.

You are obviously not in full powergaming mode - which is fine.

Upping the dex and wis on the fighter/barb could have been more effective. Barbs and heavy armor aren't the best combo.

As a personal preference, I like to see higher dex on non-tanks; it makes for better archery.

As for the wizard, it loses a couple DC points for being lower level. You could improve that by taking spell focus feats in enchantment. It's not the most popular spell focus school, but it is the sneakiest.

I see you have only 5 characters there; adding a 6th to lower your average party level could gain you some extra xp. An ECL sorc (aas, drow) could fit in nicely.

Hi.

As usual Aerich has hit the nail on the head with most of his points.

With this build Medium armour is your friend.

Aerich makes a very good point, Enchantment is one of the most overlooked schools in terms of spell focus but for a wizard it is one of the most useful.

We all know wizards cannot match sorcerers in terms of raw magical power and the number of spells they can cast per day. Therefore they require more finesse and more planning. Given their limited number of spells there is little point them focusing on blasting which may only injure a group of enemies when they could effectively remove them from combat with charms and enchantments. Enemy debuffs (many of which are enchantment based) will also benefit from this feat.

With wizard builds I usually have them attain Greater Spell Focus in Enchantment, Transmutation and Necromancy (in that order) as I find it offers the most benefits throughout the game (Enchantments are more useful at lower levels, with Transmutation you can start using deafness/slow offensively and Necromancy allows you to contribute with more focused offensive magic Skull Trap, WoB, FoD)
I see you have only 5 characters there; adding a 6th to lower your average party level could gain you some extra xp. An ECL sorc (aas, drow) could fit in nicely
Again another point, I'd suggest an Aasimar Sorcerer/Paladin who could relieve your drow of some of the blasting allowing him to focus on other areas.

I noticed after studying my partys setup for a while that i need to remake it
completely since my druid has much more str then needed. And i also need to
switch my Wiz for a Sorc. And FYI, i´ve always favored Enchantments on casters
since i know their potential to really turn the tide in a fight with 1-2 spells that
can stun and debuff the enemis to the brink of bottomfeeders.

I never was any powergamer since i belive that is boring, and who likes to make
"cookiecutters" when theres no reward in it. Sofar my best party has been a
Barb, Bard, Cleric and Sorc. They whiped out any resistance they ran up against.
Ill see what the future brings, right now im playing EVE. IWD2 is just for times
of relaxing.
