How is the game 'supposed' to look/play

Hi I'm trying to sort out if I have a problem with my computer/settings/patches etc... or if the game is playing how it should.

1) When you rotate your view (ie making the room rotate by incremental degrees so you can attack someone else or run in a different direction)..
does the room shift smoothly or jerkily? When I play it jerks and the view sometimes skips over where I want to shoot or go.

2) When I dialogue NPCs in Neverwinter outdoors it takes ages for the dialogue options to come up! But if indoors they come up pretty quick.

3) When I attack people in the prison quarter (escaped prisoners) they behave strangely. First off for the most part they don't counterattack they just stand there and get chopped up! Second when they do charge me from far away sometimes it looks like they approach me but then they disappear and reappear a long ways away from where they started the charge.

Later on in the game (deeper in the prison) they attack more but I'm still confused if this is an error in my game/computer etc

If this plays on everyones computer like on mine I can't understand why anyone likes it and why they are developing it further? Who can wait 1 minute/dialogue response? Who likes a jerky uncontrollable screen? I'd like to try the multiplayer but don't want to be the guy who has some computer issue and isn't getting much out of the game...

I don't know much about computers but the game isn't like that when I play it. It's smooth and the dialogue time doesn't vary much. Other people might have some idea what is wrong, but it shouldn't be like you have it

Thanks Fiona for your quick answer. It is good to know that there is a potential for the game. Hopefully I can figure out how to fix the situation.

i think its a problem with your graphics card and/or settings. its smooth for me but in hotu i sometimes have it where people charge then reappear miles away, but as far as i know thats just cos i have a useless graphics card lol. it shouldn't do that.

Post your system specs, if you can. CPU, RAM amount and graphics card will do. Certainly sounds like your system doesn't quite have enough punch... Smooth as silk for me. Used to be yerky when lots of characters/monsters/spells were on screen on my old PC, but not on my "up to date" new machine.

have you tried changing the video/graphics options to their lowest settings to see if that helps. also, i had quite a few problems when i first got the game but they all went away after changing the options to suit my system and after updating my video/graphics drivers. often just doing the latter can make a huge difference to how a game plays. also, try disabling some of the extra stuff like shadows/water texture etc. as this can help a lot if running it on a lower spec machine.
