A bunch of my friends have heard that oblivion will only have bows as ranged weapons. This means no knives, darts, throwing stars, etc. I was just wondering what people had heard and what they think about this.

Not like it applies to me too much, but ebony throwing stars and I have had good times together

No throwing weapons. My understanding is that the devs thought they could work out all the details of it for the physics of the new engine, but that it would take a huge amount of time. As in time they'd rather put into developing a range of features for the new game.

Don't take it too badly. The important things I'd really wanted aren't in, either:

Complex economy
Pro-active guilds/houses

quivers

I know that all reanged attack sother than magicka and bows are out, but does one need to pick up/buy a quiver for arrows? if so are there dif types, ie common, xpensive, extravagant and so on...?

Couldn't tell you that, Phreddie. I suspect we'll just have to wait to find out.
