giving henchmen equipment

on talking too Dorna Trapspringer before killing the Medusa at end of SoU an option was to modify or change her equipment eg:give her armor + cloaks,boots has this always been the case during the game and i've just over looked it or did this come in, in an update

It is a feature introduced in SOU and HoTU expansions, and likely the latter modules released from Bioware.
There is/was a HAK for the orignal NwN which allowed you to modify the equipment fo the henchmen aswell, although said equipment dissapered on level up
Otherwise, it isn't in the original NwN.

Thx, would of made game easier if i'd noticed when i started SoU
