Worth buying?

I heard there were a lot of unfinished stuff in KotOR II, of what sort I'm not sure of, never played it before, so I'm wondering if it was still worth buying?
And if it is possible that they'd fix those stuff with patches later on?
So worth buying, or just lend it from a friend and play?
Thx

It does have some unfinished things in it but I still think it is definitly worth buying, it is still a great game with a good storyline.

I've said it before elsewhere (Obsidian forums), so I'll repeat it here:
My first RPG [KotOR I], too. Followed by VTM: Bloodlines and KotOR 2 - sadly flawed works of genius, both of them. No regrets for parting with the cash, though...
And, as regards cut content, the TSL restoration project (I know, I'm mentioning them again, but not all of you have joined their forums yet. You know it make sense to go here) is in the process of restoring as much as they can given the unused VO material and gameplay programmers notes. Things are looking good for the future of KotOR II.

So what you mean by that? They actually gonna fix some stuff bout KotOR 2? Or did I just misunderstood you? :)

The TSLRP are going to replace cut content by using a patch.

The official response is that it will be done when it's done.

It is a fan-based team of modders, many of whom have just emerged blinking into the light from their finals. They have produced many fixes for the games' more annoying bugs (temporarily available from this post here until they have completed the move to a new web host).

They are restoring the HK Factory, the confrontation between HK-47, Goto and the Remote on Malachor, the fight between Atton/Disciple or Handmaiden/Visas on the surface of Malachor, the confrontation between the party members and Kreia at Malachor, the encounter between Atton and Sion, Atton's possible death-bed scene and declaration of love for a female PC, the cut scene where Tobin brings Nihilus to Telos, a controllable fight between handmaiden and the handmaiden sisters if the PC is male, a cut scene between the sisters to explain the empty academy if female, numerous cut scenes aboard the Ebon Hawk, upgrades to HK-47 (including the missing armour and the droid assassin rifle), the Genoharidan quest on Nar Shaddaa, the closed areas on Nar Shaddaa and Malachor, and much, much more...

* EDIT * Forgot to include that they are also fixing sequencing issues with the Vogga the Hut quests, and the redemption quest's broken triggers *

What they aren't restoring is material without adequate VO/maps/gameplay notes to reconstruct. What this means is that the restoration will not include Atris as Darth Traya, and the droid planet M4-78 which is a very underdeveloped map (and was removed from the PC game disks) However, they have said they will look at this again once the mod is complete if it is feasible to do.

It is a huge undertaking, and while much has already been done, there is much left to do. More detail about release dates will be given when they are confident that they will be able to meet them, and not before. They are very concious of the reactions to delays in the patches from Obsidian and are anxious not to run into the same problems...

I've been a lurker on their forums from the beginning.

Check their Work In Progress pages (note that they are in the process of moving from this website to another, so I don't know how much longer this link will stay live).

W666tvr, good information. I only wish programming fan groups like this (and the bunch making the Rome Total Realism material, for instance) could get paid for their work. Preferrably from the pockets of the publishers.

I'd still say that KotoR2 was worth playing in its current state, but I'd put both KotoR titles far behind BG2, PS:T and King of Dragon Pass in terms of content.
