I know many of you dislike dualled / multiclass chars...I didn't like the slow levelling rate either before, but then I tried a multi, fighter/mage/thief. I already finished the games twice with single-classed chars so I wanted a new challenge.

And I promise you, this is fun to solo with this triple guy He get easy xp by learning spells as a mage and lots of xp with the thief skills. Walking around with
-8 AC and the weapons: staff of rynn, tuigan bow and some wands (esp cloudkill) I don't think I had this fun in the earlier games!

Of course I wear the boots of speed and helm against charm, and even with the knowledge I won't get the best spells in the game, I think this is something you should try

I'm at lvl 11/11/13 atm and I could probably change some items to make him even better, but for now I'm happy...but perhaps that won't last long...on my way to the underdark soon...hehehehe

Actually, if you've been following these boards, you'll know that most of us *do* like playing dual-classed characters, and quite a few enjoy multi-class, as well. Soloing with multi-class characters is another matter, though.

Easy experience learning spells...? If you're doing a solo class mage (or the mage part of a dual-class), you can work up to mid-level 9: that's all. If you're multi-classing, you'll do much worse, perhaps three classes if you start right away. That's easy experience, but it's very slight.

Of course, you're soloing, which makes things a like easier--in one way, since you'll personally acrue every bit of experience. On the other hand, if you're dividing all that experience up by three classes, you're slowing your development down quite a bit.

With ToB coming along, I'm inclined to think fewer people will be multi-classing. With such a high experience cap, the temptation is to go all out and try to learn all the skills and/or spells relevant to any given class--I know I will.

fable, I haven't followed these boards no more than a few days and to read up on all the topics will take time (but I will do it)

I can see some topics (with search about dualled or multi PC's), but most posts consists of the famous Kensai/Mage and Cleric/Mage and so on...and that's why I thought trying the F/M/T variant...

Sure, as you say fable...I lose already by putting all xp into 3 slots, but did I mention challenge in my first post?

That's exactly why I do it...using a char that would be considered as average or mediocre at the best, but still have enough of all "needed" skills to continue. Yes, many fights are a pain (Planar prison for instance) but with wits and the chars skills it's quite possible to win anything! And the satisfaction of winning a special fight, makes it worth it.

Ok, I'm cheesy at a few occasions, using the wand of cloudkill...but then...if it is implemented, isn't it for use? It's not like I'm using shadowkeeper (or whatever the prog is called) to enhance anything. I wouldn't touch it! I fight on with my mediocre, but versatile dude and have fun.

What you say about ToB may be true, and then I start as always with a one class hero but this is still BG2 and I think it's amazing what a bit of patience and some witty ideas can lead you to. I am actually playing the game for the third time?

Just a post about shadowkeeper....I have it, but have only used it to get back certain items that I lose due to bugs. It beats reloading a save and having to do the same things again. Ok I am also very nosy and look into all of my characters with it. I don't change anything, but I like checking the global variables. That said after I beat this game I may go through again with a hacked party, but only after I do it fair.

@Gozpel, I didn't mean to rain on your parade. Certainly, you're free to play anyway you like, and I've been a regular voice, here, urging people to stop defining the "single greatest party" and just enjoy themselves.

It was instead, the way you put it("And I promise you, this is fun to solo with the triple guy") that seemed to imply your fave was something suitable for everybody, and I responded to this.

I apologise but I might be starting another arument, however...

Shadow Keeper is a tool and you need to use it if you want to cheat of if you want to get something back. I completed BG1 and 2 without but I also like to have a super character to play through but ONLY after I complete something. I think it's pointless to cheat as it takes the accomplishment feeling out of a game if you cheat. However if have already completed what's the matter?

Ï agree with you Nippy once you complete a game fairly you can cheat if it brings smth new and interesting to the game... IMO
