Guys - just had a helluva time in Modron Cube :-)
Got Nordom and killed the Mage Construct(.. took me 7 or so tries LOL)
All I can get out of Nordam is 36,000pts for joining ????
I've gone through the dialogue trees several times !
After all that fighting/healing/dying, all I get is a paltry 36,000pts.

Take a look at the conversation walkthrough on Gamebanshee for other things you can do with Nordom.

You got a lot more than 36,000 experience points. :)

SPOILERS

As Faust indicated, you can upgrade Nordom and receive experience points in the process.

Also, don't forget the value of the Rubikon itself. Now that you have defeated the evil Mage Construct, you can reset the game as many times as you like. The Modrons will tell you, "We constructed this device as an experiment to figure out why adventurers like to crawl through dungeons over and over again." As every adventurer knows, the reason is to get loads of treasure and experience, and that's exactly what you will get. You can get so much experience, you can level up until you're bored silly. And the treasure is more valuable than you might think. There are little devices that let you summon Modrons to defend you, and you can sell Ruby Rods (or whatever they are called) for 3000gp each, and you can find new lenses and crossbow bolts for Nordom. I especially like the Lens of Seeing Double.

The Rubikon can also be used as a teleporter. Just enter the Rubikon and then say you want out, and tell it where you want to go. Anything that saves travel time is a boon in my opinion.

Guys - I found 7 lenses and 150 bolts for Nordom.
But, if you upgrade him via "dialogue" option, I'm not having any luck.
I did read the NPC/tips etc... , and it said I need to defeat the Mage Construct with Nordom in the group; I did.
So, I started a "dialogue" right there in the room = no upgrade options
I read I could get 36,000 more points if he spilled " his memory" = no option in the dialogue
My INTL is 20 - so it looks like I could receive 7 perks according to that listing ?
Damned if I know how to get Nordom to respond in the corect way = I went over & over the dialogue tree till the same responses showed up
I even tried again tonight after 4hrs of dungeon crawling = he still shows the same dialogue options as before
It says:" Nordom must know your the Director"; well, I have him in the room when I ask for a new dungeon ?
I'll probably keep him, but this Vhailor character looks good :-) ... I have to drop someone .. either Annah or Grace
I have loads of healing from selling/stealing ... I have to see if I'll need Annah's pickpocket skills later on ... or does my character go "as is" once I activate the Ravel quest ?
Tough decision ... guess I bring Nordom with me till I find Vhailor ... then make my decision
Still have to figure out how to access his "upgrade options" ... all the others, even Ingus(...I was surprised at all the stuff I got thru dialoging with him)was through "dialogue".
Guess we do a few more dungeons and head back to UnderSigil.
As for having Modrons fight with me; well, I'm not that game savvy to figure that out ... I can't even get Nordom to let me upgrade him :-)
One walkthrough mentioned: "Nordom might not acknowledge you if Grace and Morte' are in your party" ... anyone ever hear of that ? ... could that be why I'm not getting the dialogue options

In order to become the new Director of the Rubikon, you have to talk to the Modron engineers and volunteer for the job. Something has gone wrong with the experiment, and the Rubikon has been cut off from its ties to Mechanus. (That's one of the main reasons why Nordom is a rogue Modron.) I remember asking them for a lot of detailed information. However, as you would discover if you discussed the issue with the Mage Construct, the Mage Construct was personally responsible for the Rubikon's problems. (He had gained self-awareness, and he wanted to take control of the Rubikon and use it to master his little corner of the multiverse.) If you did not volunteer to be the Modron's new director before you confronted the Mage Construct, it's possible that you can't become the Director now. However, if that's a problem, you might be able to solve it by resetting the Rubikon, talking to the Modron engineers, and confronting the Mage Construct again. (Yes, he will be created all over again.)

I'm rusty on the details, so if I got something wrong, feel free to correct me.

VonDondu - yes, I did talk to the engineer before dungeon crawling.
So, I do I go about reseting the Rubikon ?
This mean I have to go through the whole crawl again ; or, do I just fight the mage construct then talk to the engineer and become the Director ?
I don't have the neccesary healing to go through the whole thing again ... plus another 2 full days of High Threat Constructs will drive me to drink :-)
Thanks !

Yeah, you have to volunteer to become the new director of the cube. If you haven't done that, it could be the source of your problems. You'll need to talk to the center modron in the engineering room. Honestly, I'm not sure what you'll have to do at that point. It's possible you'll have to do the whole thing again. Keep in mind when working in the cube, that you can always run rather than fight, if they are too much for you.

VonDondu/Faust - I recall, playing it the first time and it was too easy with LTC(LowThreatConstructs) & no way out. Plus, there was no Nordom/mage construct dungeon room. I then knew something was up. Went back and found the engineering room, talked to the modron on the little platform, picked the "offer to be the director". Then said: make the dungeon "normal". Now I faced MTC and no way out. Again, no Nordom or mage construct dungeon room. So, as I thought, I had to go back and tell the engineer to set the dungeon on "hard" and get bashed by HTC with buicks for weapons(LOL). As always, he replies: "the dungeon is set director". So, he knows and the game know I'm the director. The only way to get Nordom/Mage dungeons is on hard; and to play on hard is to become the director.
That's why I'm stumped :-)
I've spent 4+ hours stealing healing - lost all I had on the hard level before
May try "hard" again :-(
Faust, I was thinking of trying the "run for your life" idea (LOL)
I know where the mage should be.
Will he be there after being killed ? ... since I had Nordom with me on the first go-around, I don't see what the difference will be ?
I really wanted those upgrades, as I want to use my Level 6 "Lightning" area killer spell. Then I'm off to find Ravel. Decided to drop Grace and keep Vhailor - will stock up on health !!! ... her 3 or so healings aren't worth keeping her ... I usually steal enough to have 40+ heart charms per character ... why I put alot into Annah's "pickpocket" skill = like the five-finger-discount
Thanks for your time and help guys.
This is a great game - just wished it wasn't so convoluted/intricate etc... the options on dialogue & "did I try the entire dialogue tree" aspect can become tedious :-) ... "going out of step" and thus screwing up a pattern to the game is enough to pull one's hair out ... since I don't look up and check walks/FAQ/tips-hints until I think something is amiss, I can only imagine what I "missed on" from the Mortuary till Modrons Cube :-)
Back to stealing and the dungeon crawl + UnderSigil fighting = I've resigned myself to the Nordom mess and will just go on without the perks.

Well if you're certain you're recognized as the director, I'm basically out of ideas. I'm not entirely sure how the dialogue tree works. Meaning, I'm not 100% sure if all dialogue options are present at the beginning, or if some reveal themselves over the course of game play. If you are having continued problems with Nordom, you might try talking to him later in the game and seeing if the dialogues come open at that point.

Anyway, I'm sorry for the hard luck.

Dan Simpson's walkthrough gives the details of all the XP and upgrades for Nordom, including the NO's INT requirements and the conversation paths for each. http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/ ... ment_a.txt

Hope that helps
