HTML Desktop

I'm currently working on my sister's computer, cleaning up and such, essentially spring cleaning.

The catch, though, is that I've encountered something I've never seen before: The desktop has somehow been replaced with an html script, warning the user about spyware. Because of this, I'm naturally assuming the problem is spyware related.

I've attempted to delete it manually, not to mention clearing the cookies and the temp folders, as well as a system restore. I've also scanned the computer for spyware in order to clean it up, with nothing working.

So, the query is this: Does anyone have any ideas or solutions that may work, short of formating the computer?

You don't really provide a lot of informatoin... Download HijackThis (google it) and post the log in this thread. You shouldn't have to reformat.

Hah, got the same just last week. Go to the desktop properties-->Desktop-->Customize Desktop-->Web, and uncheck the web page on the list.

Wow. That is strangely simply. I'll give that a go, as it does sound like it could be the problem.
