Ok, i just finished killing the lich and then i went to see phaere. she gave me the fake eggs and i was heading to the temple to make the switch. solufein (i let him live) gave me the fake eggs to give to phaere. instead i went to the temple and talked to the matron mother and said that phaere had betrayed her and then they killed phaere. then when the ritual began, the demon revealed mt true identity and the matron mother had the correct eggs, so they both attacked me. i killed them both, but now im trying to leave and everyone kills me. is this supposed to happen (my identity revealed)?

You made a mistake. You are NOT supposed to talk to the Matron Mother. You go into the Vault (*quickly* kill the guards before they can give the alarm), swap out the eggs and get out. If you have done it correctly (and leave Ust Natha after the ceremony pronto, you can get out with no one the wiser (that isn't already dead). Oh, btw, when the Demon Lord shows up, just be silent.

do i have to reload to an earlier save or can i just kill all the baddies that know im a surfacer and get out? if i rest i can kill 'em all.

Whats wrong with being an arrogant basterd? I always fight the demon, the matron mother, phaere, solufain, every drow in Ust'Natha, all the beholders, all the Kou-Toa, the illithids, and the svirneblin. The only thing I don't kill in the underdark is Adalon. (That was also my second time through) There ain't nothing wrong with bashing heads to get what you want!

By the way, if your party has cleric, use snctuary spell, this way you can change eggs without killing guards. So, you put Phaere eggs for Matron Mother to use, give Phaere eggs from Soulafein, and give Adalone her own eggs. Oh, yes, after the Demon kills both Phaere and Matron, if you can -cast Mass Invisibility and Haste - and off you go. No one will ever see you!

Unless you were able to keep the Demon Lord from destroying the eggs, I would say reload....unless you want to take on the Silver Dragon of course (after depopulating Ust Natha). From the sounds of it, the ENTIRE city knows you are a tresspasser, and the city will keep on spawning Drow until you are dead. Since the egg quest was bungled, Adalon will be automatically hostile too.

Why waste the mass invisibility? If you haste the party, they will make it out in Ust Natha well before the alert sounds.

You get more XP by not fighing them, and you are supposed to be fighting your murderous urges right?

Actually, I calculated it. If you kill everything in the Underdark (and I mean everything) You actually get about an extra 100 000 more then you would from the quests and the killing involved. Kind've interesting eh? Plus, it allows you to indulge.

What happens to your reputation then? You would have to kill all the Deep Gnomes as well to get this figure. Given the general difficulty of the Underdark and the fact you easily hit the XP cap anyway, it is NOT WORTH IT.

Maybe for you. Oh well, keep in mind I was having a bad day, so thats what provoked me to do it.

What I was really getting at was that Drow are *tough* when they swarm on you (most have at least 50% MR). While you can take out a great number, I have found even high level parties have problems when faced with swarms of Drow....which is why it is NOT worth it. [OTOH when the Drow do NOT spawn (most places outside of Ust Natha), they are easy.]

Your rep remains intact, so just butcher away And if you have ToB installed, the EXP cap should not be a problem either

ok, i finally got it right. i tricked phaere and the matron mother. i escaped without being noticed. then i was all ready to go to adalon, and i remembered i left her eggs in the demon room. I had to go all the way back through ust natha to the temple killing everyone, hehe. then i got my eggs and i also cleared out the tavern.

A bug revealed my identity when I left the lich tower. All drow went hostile and I butchered all. For some reason when I tried to leave the city it says "The gate has been sealed".
