Need Help with Final Mephi Battle

Hi ! I have led my Barbarian/Fighter/Weapon Master (2/15/10) all the way back to Deepwater to kill off Mephi. Unfortunately, I can barely scratch him, while Mephi kills me off like a fly.
So, any suggestions on how to kill this hellspawn ?
Alternatively, is it possible to go back to the Knower of Names to buy Mephi´s true name. Unfortunately, I don´t have a savegame from before the ice prison.

I hope you have an acid weapon when you are in Waterdeep. Because he got damage resistance to everything else.

I don't think so... acid and hope are the answers...

Hah, I did it ! Packed away my trusty greataxe and whipped out the longbow +6 with unlimited ammo, courtesy of the dead smith in Cania. Took me about 20 minutes running around hasted, pelting Mephi with my +5 arrows (no acid) and quaffing healing potions, but in the end my Barbarian Weapon Master remained victorious.
Sort of funny and boring to bring this mighty demon down 3 points damage at a time.

Yes, heroic indeed. Everytime I challenged bosses for the first time I usually spent half hours and half hours desperately damaging them a little and helping myself with all healing potions I had. But at the end there's a special satisfaction, don't you think?

Nah, I was kinda disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed HotU but an end boss which you can only kill with a certain kind of damage... I think that´s bad style. If Bioware at least had dropped hints that Mephi was susceptible to acid, then players could have been expected to prepare accordingly, but this feels as if the PC has become so powerful the developers had to cheat in order to provide a challenging final opponent.

That isn't boring. Boring is when you kill Mephistopeles with a destruction spell. Yes it it true, he rolled 1 and died....

That is an issue with most RPGs.
In an attempt to make the game difficult (heh) they usually pumb up the boss' with all sorts of resitances

making strategies almost useless.

For me it was a 1 on a save throw against the Black Blade of Disaster in the second round of combat.
I didn't understand what happened at first untill I looked over the combat rolls
