Playing NWN online

Ever tried playing NWN online? I visited the NWN site and wanted to find out more about creating guilds, but one needs to be registered to access that page and I didn't want to sign up until I know what it's all about :)

So, do you know how that works? What's the purpose of guilds, why create one? How can I join a guild?

When playing online, can I join with other players? Are we in a party (with one leader, just as in BG) or are we free to wander around independently as if we were alone? If there are no players online, can I go on with my game alone?

Thx :)

When you are playing online you can either make or join a game... joining a game has been quirky for me (but hopefully not anymore since I updated). You can switch leadership of the party to whomever you wish as well and yeah... you can play alone.

Thanks for the link, I checked the page, but it was the same here: I should create an account to enter the guilds page, which I wouldn't really like to do until I know WHY I should do it :)

Also, I saw some of the members' Scheduled Games list... What can I do with those? They just announce when they play and invite others to join in?

Anyone experienced in this? :)

Hey Brynn I'll try and lay this out for you.

The Bioware site contains a resource for guilds and allows them to have their own forums and such.

Neverwinterconnections is a very similar service, except that it also allows you to see games that other people are running and have open to the public.

When playing multiplayer you are basically entering a world on your own (unless you are playing an established game like one on Neverwinterconnections with a group). There is no set leader to a party. Other players can invite you to a party, or you can invite them to a party and team up to explore a server. There are alot of servers out there ranging from roleplaying oreinted to hack and slash. Some "worlds" are application only, while others require hak packs to play. Most if not all these haks can be found on the worlds website, or they are offered for download at places like NWVault.com and similar sites.

I would reccomend registering with Neverwinter Connections as you are new to the multiplayer community, it offers alot of opputunities to find a game or even a server that has what you are looking for.

Hope that helps if you have any other questions feel free to send me a message: shadedragyn@yahoo.com

Thanks, Shade! I think it starts to dawn on me at last... :) Let's discuss the rest in email, then.

Thanks again :)
