Hello All and happy new year!

I have been offered the post of risk manager for one of our project teams at our engineering company. However, I am not sure whether I should take it or not.

Does anyone have any experience/know what they do/is one? Could they give me a quick overview/advice? I have found some information, but something from "the horses mouth" would be much appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

Recoba

Well I don't have any practical experiance with Risk Management out in real life, we did however dedicate ½ year at university looking and practsing Risk Management for a Software development problem. In Software Engineering the role of the project manager is to keep the project team updated on all things that go wrong and hence delay the delivery of the product. Together with the project manager he/she should also create plans that will counter the risks that they deem will effect the project the most if they occur if it possible to do so.

Me personally would not mind being risk manager in an Software Project, I cannot say anything for being it in any other project, but hopefully it wont be a total bore...

Since you don't specify what field of engineering your company is, I don't have any idea what you gonna do. Anyway here's some literature that might help you out : http://www.fema.gov/fima/rmsp.shtm
