Multiplayer Help

Is there a guide someone can point me to, or some knowledge someone could share, that will help me host a multiplayer game through my router? A friend and I would love to play over the internet, but both of us are behind routers, so one of us needs to figure out how to host a game.

I've done a google search, and haven't found anything yet that was actually useful. I have a Belkin router that splits my cable connection, and I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to networking hardware/software.

Thanks in advance!

Well, I found my answer, so I thought I would share it here for others who may have the same question.

Basically, you have to access your router and set up port forwarding for a bunch of ports. What this does is it connects the ports on your computer to the IP address of the router so that other clients can connect.

Here's what you have to set up:
From NWN tech support...and worked the first time for me with Router/Firewall ....

If you are trying to play through a firewall of some sort, here is some information for you to help you get connected. Neverwinter Nights uses UDP, not TCP for its connections. If you think that your firewall is preventing you from connecting to the game servers, please make sure that the following ports are open:

Ports 5120 through 5300
Port 6500
Port 27900
Port 28900
If you are wanting to make sure that your NAT is set up to allow the game to play here are some details.

Outgoing packets

Source port: 5120-5129
Destination port: 5121-5300
Incoming packets

Source port: 5121-5300
Destination port: 5120-5129

Once you have these set up, it should run perfectly. Special note is that NWN uses UDP ports, not TCP/IP.
