i dont know where to post this but here goes
firstly does anybody know where i can find some stats and item stats for characters from the dragonlance book
secondly where i can download some stuff and try to make some character
mods

Are you looking to create mods for Baldur's Gate II? The question may seem obvious, but since we get 'em here when they're intended for NWN or MW, it's not far-fetched to ask.

yeah im thinking of making like a group of characters mod based on the
dragonlance novels and series or maybe just like caramon and raistlin and trying to do the game with just them two just wanted to find some site
that i can read up on some modding stuff

You want to mod? Well first... you have to suffer... then... (hehe jk)
Check out the thread on the infinity game engine editor. Thats for BGII...
For NWN there is a built in editing tool...

If you want to mod BGII, I would suggest:
- Download WeiDU from
http://www.weidu.org
- Download DLTCEP from
http://www.dragonlancetc.com
- Download Near Infinity (uh, Google it, I don't recall the URL offhand)
- Bookmark the IESDP at
http://iesdp.gibberlings3.net
- Read tutorials for what you want to do. Try
http://forums.pocketplane.net and
http://forums.gibberlings3.net - having a good idea of your aims helps, but you have already said you know what you want to do so that's a start.
Looking at existing code helps, too. It is easy to start small by making an item or something. Any questions, ask at one of the modding forums! Good luck.
