Xbox Live

Alright, console gamers, I need some help.

I went to hook up Xbox Live for my kid and it's doing nothing but pissing me off.

After running a network cable to the basement, I loaded Halo 2 and went to sign up a new account. It ran through the DNS settings but then gave me a message that it was unable to connect to Xbox Live.

I checked out Microsoft's website and it turns out my router, a Netgear RP114, is on their list of routers with known compatibility issues. So tomorrow I'm off to buy a new router that is on their list of "Xbox Live-certified" routers.

After I install the router, is there anything else I need to do to get hooked up with Xbox Live?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you need to pay to use x-box live.
I don't know the details as I don't have an x-box.

the fee is $50 a year...
hmm...
you have to think of a gamer tag as well (nick name)...
hmm...
ooo, you have to have a major credit card to sign up with (visa, master card, or american express )

i think that's all :)

I had the same problem, if you have anything installed or have had any chips put in your x box that isn't totaly legal than xbox live recognizes that as a technical difficulty. if your new router still doesn't work than it is most likely the xbox and you will probably have to get it maintenenced. if you have tampered with your xbox (like trying to fix it yourself) than DO NOT bring it in for repair because you can get fined for tampering with the equipment.
