Multiclassing Druid/Shapeshifter/Monk help required by a nooobie

I currently have a lv6 druid (have both expansions too) and have been considering multiclassing to a Monk since I have read there are some very usefull unarmed skills a monk has which can help when shapeshifted into a Brown Bear, However from what I have read on this forum it is only usefull until monk level 3 since from then onwards the monk skills help more and do more dmg if u are NOT in bear form.

Im planning to eventually get my char all the way up to lvl40, so im wondering is it worth getting a monk lvl3/druid lvl37 or is the 20% Xp penalty I will receive as a result not worth it????

I also want to add a shapeshifter in the mix, but im not sure if the 20% Xp penalty would still apply and if it does apply ( since shapeshifter and druid are complementary in my opinion), would it stack up with the monk XP penalty to make a total of 40% penalty. Furthermore how high should I get the shapeshifter lvl compared to my main path the druid lvl. Would Druid(lvl19) Shapeshifter (lvl18) Monk (lvl3) be a good ultimate combination, or is Lvl 3 monk just too insignificant to make any difference and should be left out of the equation, and if so should I just split it Druid lvl20 Shapeshifter lvl20 or should the one be higher than the other ??

Any advice, help and info on these ideas would be great, thanx guys :)

Firstly, what race is your PC? A human or half-elf ignores the highest level class when it comes to generating the XP penalty.

Secondly, prestige classes (such as the Shifter) ignore the XP penalty.

Thirdly, the penatly does not stack, it is max'ed at 20%.

Forthly, you are not going to get to 40th level just playing the expansions. Don't bother making level calculations based on that. If you play on live servers, PvP, then you can think about getting to 40th (or so I hear - Noober is the one to ask about that, not me).

Finally, I personally would not add in the levels of monk, but if you feel like it, go for it! It's a powerful class mix regardless.

Cheers,
TGHO
