My Monk-Druid:

I could not resist the temptation of making a MC-char between druid and a
monk so i went ahead and made one. The start was everything but easy since
i did not want to use any henchmen or summons = all versus poor me.
After playing NwN for over a year and tested most builds with most chars
i decided to try the "shapeshifter" with the druid , a fighter with skills and
feats chosen for pure polymorphed fighting.

My attributes were not to hard since i would get completely new ones when
i shapechanged (SC from now on) so i maxed out my Wisdom and put as much
as i could in Con, thereby making my attribs as follows (with no Buffs):
STR:10, DEX:10, CON:16, INT:9, WIS:19, CHA:8.
In the beggining i had 8 in INT and started to get anoyed over the
"stupid speach" so i invested 1 levelup-point in INT.

As a human shape im using mostly Monk gear like gloves of Rose+2, Robe of
the shining Hand+2. I also invested in a Greater Swordsmans Belt which
should give me a good resistance against slashing foes.

My current level with both classes are Druid 6 and Monk 3 , and im just
about to kill Meldanen and finish of most sidequests with the Henchmens.
Im also trying to do 100% of all regular Sidequests since it gives me a
maximum level at any given point , which i said i wanted to have.

Thou it has been ALOT of reload in the start , it has been very fun to
see this MC´r grow from a medioker fighter to a true beast.
Fighting in human form when buffed+monk skills like Flurry of blows makes
him an enemy not to laugh at, however, when turning into the brownbear....
RRRROAARRR.. now were talking slaughter. My strength jumps to 26-27 and
with Barkskin ,Bullstrength and my belt - there aint much stopping me.
And when i run into any mage ill just use some resistance spells to soak
up some dmg before i get close, which does not take to long.

Sofar the worst fight was the first "boss" in penincula District , he who
stands infront of the sewer entrence. That fight took a few Healing pots
and some reloads.

The hard part thou is keeping the ballance in "alignment" so you can gain
you levels with the correct class, but i found that the best way to do it is
to do all good quests and kill a few innocents here & there when you get
"To good" :D .

Of to bed now after 3 hours or playing.

/To be continued.

lol nice

but i kinda think the int and cha should have been raised and the con lowered cuz when you shapeshift the con is modified too.

Update:

I´ve reached chapter 2 and just finished of Mutamins challange with no
larger difficulty. Eventhou i like this char very much i´ve come to notice that
fighting as a brownbear is not as effective anymore compared to using my 3
levels of monk.

My current equipment is as follows:
Armor: The black monkarmor which gives speed.
Rings: Ring of res -15 all / +1fortitude.
Belts: Belts of Ogre +3STR, Greater swordsmans & Greater Brawlers Belt.
Boots: Sunsoul+2
Gloves: Ogre+3STR / Sunsoul+3 Attack & 1+ Electr.
Pendant: Amulet of Health / Amulet of Wis +2.
Cape: +1 AC.

I have noticed that when using the shape of the bear, none of my equipment
is used and since the belts can save me alot of damage, i lose alot by
changing into the bear. the only thing that stays as a buff are the spells.
When transsforming into a bear i also get hit alot mor then in human form
which is not good either since i lose my damage reduction.

So... it all comes down to one thing. Do i chose to continue my way of the
shapechanger - which seems to be failing atm. Or do it keep leveling as a
druid but fight in human form and thereby dropping my plans.

This is something i dont like in games, some builds which should work
since they make sense - dont. Im currently level 13 = high level compared to
the monsters i face in chapter 2 and i kick monster butt as monk-3 but im
getting problems staying alive as lvl 10 Druid/brownbear ....

Odd.

Why don't you try switching to the shifter prestige class? That class gives you many alternative forms to fight with. If anything just experimenting with all the options should provide hours of entertainment.

I know what you mean. I think that when you shift to brown bear only the monk robe abilities gets carried over, possibly the rings and the amulet aswell. Gloves never carry over but with the shifter forms armor and belts and even weapon and shield abilities all gets carried over into your new form, altough some of them dont stack.
One reason for your monk level 3 being strong is that the game is not treating him like he would be treated in PnP. His AB is not that of a level 3 monk in the game, call it a bug or a feature. If I were you I'd get the expansions and play as a shifter. Lots of fun.

Update :

I just installed the 2 expansions but keept on with my druid which just
reached level 13 as druid and still at level 3 as Monk. Im at the end of
chapter 3 and about to get the 3:rd stone.
I´ve had some problems at the start of chapter 3 with both Klauth and
some of the Giant and Fire giant champions but could mostly solve it by
using a few bags of tricks.
I also killed the white dragon as a bear with 32AC and 37 STR -
basically just buffed my druid to the max and opened a can of whoop.
(Didnt even use the "You-know-what= Amulet),

I also just finished the trial , got a level and was about to start leveling my
char into shapeshifting , but i realised that i wanted to give my druid the
spell "Harm" first since i have very good memories of it.
I will probably take the druid to 20, the monk to 10 and shifter to 10.

My current attribs without spellbuffs;
STR:13, DEX:10, CON:18, INT:9 WIS:24, CHA:8. (All lvl attribs goes to Wis).
