hi. im a bit confused about how you determine how many attacks per round a character gets when multiclassed.

Case in point, I have a Rogue7/SD1 and according to the manual, he should get a second attack at level 8 (there are both in the same colommn.) but he still only has 1

does this mean he will get another attack when he levels up to Rogue lvl 8, and yet another as a SD level 8? How does it work

Also, sneak attack, does it go up every two class levels, or every two character levels, or what?

As for the attacks per round - then it is addidative, you take one class attack bonus and adds it to the second class.

A level 7Rogue/1SD has the same attack bonus as a level 7 rouge + level 1 SD (this is where you miscalculated)
A level 7 rogue has +5 but a level 1 SD has +0 - thus a total attack bonus of 5.

Sneak attack for the rogue would be class levels, not character.

Multiple attacks work as such - when the PC reaches a BAB of +6, they get a second attack at +1 BAB. There are three kinds of progressions for BAB, 1 per 1, 1 per 2 and 3 per 4. Fighter types get 1 BAB per class level, thieves and cleric types 3 per 4 and mage types 1 per 2.

This progression is regardless of multiclassing. If you look at the rogue progression table you'll see:

Lvl BAB
1 0
2 1
3 2
4 3

Note that a first level Shadow Dancer has a BAB of 0 (they have the same table as a Rogue). So, as Xandax said, your PC 7th Rogue/1st SD has a BAB the same as a 7th Rogue. Your next level up will get you another BAB, giving you +6/+1 BAB.

Hope that helps!
