Unlocking doors?

Can anyone tell me how this is done, exactly? I have no trouble unlocking chests: go to the skills menu, select Open Lock, click on chest. This works every time - which is not to say that my incompetent thief doesn't set off traps regularly, but at least she's trying. But when it comes to locked doors, she doesn't even try. I go into skills, select Open Lock and try to click on the door... but it just says "locked". Yes, I know it's locked - that's why I'm trying to unlock it, see? Basically, the cursor is just behaving as though I was trying to open a locked object, rather than applying a skill to it. Is there some trick that I'm missing? Some particular place I'm supposed to click?

Have you tried right-clicking on the door itself to attempt Open Lock? Often, that makes some things work out better than others, especially a Paladin using their "Lay on Hands" ability.

Boy, I sure haven't! Opening the chests was so intuitive, I never thought to try a completely different mechanism. Will give it a try tonight. Thanks!
