help

I'm playing a wizard level 16, in the "HOTU" I have reached chapter 2, my "savior" delen red tiger is no longer at my side, and instead I have this dark drow as a henchman. I’m feeling weak , I don’t think I’m strong enough, each fight I come across I get killed with no sign of surviving. I had a better chance when someone strong was at my side to protect me but now it seems lost. I was looking forward to playing this game , and now it doesn’t look like im doing good at this , please help me, advice me what to do, maybe I need a cheat for this game?

HotU Chapter 2?

Well... if you need a fighter at your side, go back to the temple of the Seer and "hire" the tiefling. (the green-skinned devil-lookalike) He's not as beautiful as that drow assassin, but he knows how to handle his flail and packs quite a punch. :)

Apart from that, be sure to always have a good deal of buffing spells up and running. On level 16 you should -at least- have access to "Greater Stoneskin" or even "Premonition". Also, remember that a "Cat's Grace" spell (raises DEX) will also give you 1-2 dodge bonus to AC.

In that segment, my sorceress -always- cast these on her after resting:
- Mage Armor (a little AC)
- Protection From Evil (better AC, better saving throws)
- maximized Cat's Grace (better AC)
- maximized Endurance (more hitpoints)
- Premonition (way >100 points of damage buffering)
- Improved Invisibility (50% concealed even in battle! Helps a LOT.)
All those last an entire day, save for Invisibility, but that -still- last veeery long when your level is this high. I usually could explore 1-2 whole maps before it fades.

And whenever I expected a little more trouble, I also fired up:
- Shadow Shield (+5 AC)
- Shield (+4 AC)

And finally, when I went up against enemy spellcasters or traps:
- Energy Buffer
- Spell Mantle

With THAT kind of setup, your pretty darn untouchable for all enemies that are around at that point. Immune against magic missiles, 50% concealed, an AC of 35-39, 40/- resistant against all elemental damage and even IF someone got past that, my Premonition swallowed almost 150 points of damage before the first drop of my blood fell. :)

Ok, I for my part never had a henchman with me. Right from the beginning, so I always got 100% of all the exp available. And as a result, I was already level 21-23 at that point.
So in your case, many of the level-dependent spells will have less effect, but this setup should still make things a LOT better. ;)

First, you have THREE quickbars!
Try holding down SHIFT ... or CTRL. And you will see that you have two entirely empty quickbars left. I recommend placing all buffing spells on one of them. :)

Haven't you ever read those (annoying) little messages on the loading screens? One of them tells you exactly this. :p :D

Second: of course you can take someone else. That chapter offers you TWO henchmen. The little drow girl (rogueish chara) and the tiefling (warriorish chara). As a wizard, the latter will be better for you.
