Actually - Bethesda has spoken official about ES:IV.
If you check the press release where Bethesda speaks about purchasing the Fallout licenes and announces Fallout 3- you will notice they also state they will produce an Elder Scroll IV.
There is not much other information about it yet though.

Well, whatever happends on friday, I'm quite sure that most of our questions regarding TES: IV will be answered. The countdown on
http://www.elderscrolls.com has most likely something to do with the next game. I believe it's an official announcement telling us when it's scheduled to come out, if Oblivion is the final name, rumours or working title only and what it will be all about.
Just got to ask this at the same time: Who thinks that this countdown is one of the best things that have happened in the gaming market for a long time? I know I do. This is the kind of hype I like.
