I have no idea in how to use resurection. Which people can I resurect? I am a paladin and I ahve tried it on a few people i've killed but nothing. So what purpose do resurection or raise dead have?

You can resurrect players (only in multiplayer) and henchmens if they die.

And the way to do it is simply click on the char you want to resurrect. If you're in NWN, you'll find your henchmen alive in the Temple of Tyr. If in HoU, you can resurrect him with the Rod of resurrection (or with your spell), you'll actually be assigned to do that at the very beginning (entering Undermountain). The dead person should have his name written above his corpse, e.g. "Tomi Undregallows- Dead". You' can't resurrect dead goblins or prisoners or any other enemies (you don't need to, either

Sounds like a stupid spell/item to me personally. Every time my henchmen died in NWN I used the recall stone and got him back..every time in SoU my henchmen died I would use a heal kit and get him back. Does that not work in HoU or something?

Without spoiling to much - in HotU there are some you need to resurrect.
But it is very much a multiplayer spell.

Yes, you'll need it in HoU. In the other 2 modules resurrecting is not neccessary since your henchmen can't die, actually.
