I am sure this has been asked before... but why can't bards get epic spells.... it says they can in the manual? why does class lvls gained above 20 not count towards the number of attacks you get even if the class you are going up in is more combat orientated than your original class... i.e. getting 20 lvls in mage then 20 lvls in fighter will leave you with 2 attacks a round... whilst doing the reverse will give you 4... and thirdly why do so many char on-line use scythes with their weapon masters... I have done the maths and rapiers exceed them by almost 40 pts more damage a round (if your wielding one in each hand) plus you don't have to waste a feat in exotic weapons.

As for the bard and epic, well I've never played a bard myself, so can't answer this one. Could simply be a manual error?

Number of attacks, well - then you need to talk to eiter Bioware or Wizards of the Coast. I don't know if it is either D&D rules or the NwN implementation of D&D rules.

As for the schyte:
I would think many use Schytes for WM solely because of the high critical modifier. Rapiers might do more damage over time due to the lower threat range, I've not bothered to do the math. But a good number of people likes to see the high numbers, instead of going for better over time damage. The reason is likely that fights rarely last over time anyway. (this is an issue with many online games)
Also - if you need want to wield rapiers in each hand you need feets for doing that effective as well.

Yeh... the main reason for asking this is purely because if you want to create a fighter/caster fighte, or a rogue/fighter you can only get 4 attacks if you get all the feats required for being a weapon master straigh away and are human... unfortuanatly if you are planning on doing this with a cleric or a bard it means your weapon mastery will have to be of s simple weapon... but rogues don't suffer from this problem. So my Bard/RDD/WM turned out to only have 3 attacks, and couldn't cast epic spells... which was a bit of a blow to me...

Epic spells have the requirement to be able to cast 9th level spells. A bard can't achieve this obviously...

do bard/PM and you'll be able to take epic spells. :) and it's possible to get bard with 4 hits per round. :)

actually, Palemaster does not give you 9th level spells so, sorry, Bards will never get Epic Warding :( . However, I really don't see the point in getting epic Bard levels. Except for feats like Lasting Inspiration there really isn't much lvl 21+ Bard would give you. My advice, try a few levels in Red Dragon Disciple. Mucha fun and you get wings! Palemaster works too, although he really doesn't give you as much of an advantage. I belive lvl 10 RDD gives you somewhere around 8 extra str, and maybe 4 extra intel and constitution (and 2 charisma? I can never remember exactly what it was). In addition, you get around 4 extra AC. Not to mention firebreathing.

Yeh... that was kind of the point though... I was trying to get a RDD with 4 attacks per round with a decent weapon, and have found it quite impossible, might have to settle for daggers or a spear. Or 3 attacks per round with a better weapon.

2Opalescence:
If i told something new,i prefare to check first then deny. first my tip to you - throw Player Handbook far away (couse NWN is not AD&D or D&D) and start using generator and arenas. you'll find many supraises.

a next few facts are 100% true:
1) Pale master can take Epic Spells without 9-th circle of magic
2) You can take Lasting Inspiration by 20 level of Bard.
3) Bard looks like weak, but it's only illusion. Bard's song with Lasting Inspiration will long something like 100 round. it will give : +3 AV,+5 AC +2 damage (not shure +2 or more),+8 saves/skills and something like +80 HP. same things will lower Cursing song to your opponent but instead -80 HP it will deal 30 sonic damage. so you'll get +8 AC and +8 AB bonus on your opponent even without any cost. if you have Devastating Critical,so -10 to all saves will realy helps you.

Yup, I'll confirm all of the above points.

Bard is now probably the strongest non-caster base class in the game (becasue of excellent multi-classing options as well). And three attacks is plenty if you have 50 strength like me and dev crit :p .

NWN caps strength at 50, any more and you will end up with a stuffed character (the modifier changes to something like -3).

I have settled on a Sorc 23/RDD 10/WM 7 dual rapier wielding elf. With the right Char construction i can end up with 4 epic spells and with a pixie i willl end up with a fairly well rounded character, which was the point to begin with..... I dunno after what you guys have said it is making me think about resurrecting my bard.

I hardly belive that your build will survive any serious encounter.
1)Sorc 23 will be easily dispeled even by fighter from scrolls.
2) Rdd will give you STR,but mage-fighter need DEX build,so you'll have lame AC as well as lame AB

It's only for the OC, so surviving shouldn't be any huge feat, I played through solo with a lvl 10 wizard lvl x palemaster without realising this only gave me 10 caster lvl's and didn't have too much trouble. My dex will be ok 16 unbuffed but i will prob buff it up to 26 with items/enchantments so It will be just as good as wearing armour. Plus I will have damage reduction spells and your AB is pretty stupidly high once you buff your weapon and reach epic levels..

Gamespy has stopped working in my part of the world so there will be no multiplayer for me for a good long while.
