Help with Ship Mending, please

So you are in the Foothills, you've finally got the second diamond off the gnome in the Remorhaz who's name escapes me. You walk off back to Oswald and do what with all the stuff you have?
Put it on the table? Fine, talk to him, still thinks you haven't got everything and that you should go look for components.
I don't see what I have to do.
I know from previous games that his ship gets mended after you do the Ice Temple anyway, so do you just get the experience then or am I missing something blindingly obvious?

Maybe Oswald's right and you did miss an ingredient. Could that be the case?

well this is answer to your question...
You will need one set of lumber
and one set of spider silk
thrym extract You can get from those big bugs and
from oswald ship(it is in crate...)
2 diamonds it seames that you got these already...
Belladonna... those druids and rangers have one... (they are in the first are...
Iron...This might be hardest part but you can use broken weapon from captain Yurst or get some weapons from lowest floor of ice palace...

the easiest way to get the iron is to use the broken armor or weapons from the captain, i think it took me longest to get the belladonna, i dont remember lol unless you're missing something i dont know whats wrong with your quest so im gonna shut up now haha

There's a diamond already in Oswald's ship at the outset, lumber all around the area paths, spider silk in the spiders you squash near the formian giants, belladonna on the druid leader, thrym extract in the boring beetle nest next to the broken ship, and another diamond in a circular cave in the druid village (along with other piles of loot). That one is easy to miss...just keep your alt key depressed when the room is on your screen and you will see several piles in the room. But yeah, his ship doesn't actually mend until you snuff out the Ice Palace anyway. Have fun. :)

So does 'Iron Ore' not count as the Iron required, as for some reason you seem to get ridiculously huge amounts of 'Iron Ore' and considering the max HP of your characters it's pretty useless so I assumed I could use that. I'll use some armour then. Do I just leave all this stuff on the table and then go and hack at the people in the Ice Temple?

Thankye for the help, lovely people.

Sorry, broken weapon, that's what I meant. *sighs*. Okay, so does it just say, after you've completed the Ice Temple, "You helped Oswald repair his ship, aren't you really nice people, have some experience points", or words to that effect? Or is it utterly pointless actually collecting the ingredients?

Experience

I think you get the experience points after you put everything on the table and talk to Oswald. As far as I can remember, he starts his spell thanks you and tells you it will be awhile until the spell is completed. Once this happens go perforate some people at the Ice Temple. ;)

And I'm pretty sure you don't get the compliment of being really nice people, since the only reason your actually repairing the ship is so you can get the nine hells out of that frozen wasteland, and thanks to the brains of a gnome you have to fight your way through the valley anyway. Too bad you can't kill the gnome....I mean, uh, Best of Luck Talyn!!!
