My first start of NWN, I chose a bard, but after running with Daelan in the prison, decided that I wanted to switch roles :) . I made a barbarian, went through a few episodes with Tomi, but got Sharwyn recently - and she NEVER seems to buff, play songs, Identify items, or do any of the other bard-like actions. Before I give up and go back to the rogue - am I missing something? I am playing straight NWN, no addons.

Well - I haven't played with a bard henchmen in the original NwN, but in the expansions they should use their abilities by themselves (if they have spells/songs availble). Otherwise, try talking to her, and see if you can't tell her to use her abilities via the dialog options. Otherwise, try and rest, and repeat.

As for identify, that should also be done by talking to your henchmen, and selecting the appropiate dialog options.

I hope this helps somewhat, otherwise I can try and boot up a game and play around with Sharwyn

Also - do you have the latest patch installed, there might be some bugs regarding henchmen using abilities in the ealier versions?

Yeah, I had the latest patch - applied it on install. I gave up on her for Chapter 1, but decided to give her another try in Ch.2. We walk out of Port Llast, see a "fierce" Dire Boar (horrors!), so she unleashed a confusion and, of course, catches me in the radius. I killed her while confused. If I could just leave her dead, I think I might :) . Back to the rogue again. I guess that magic-using henchman are not a good idea when running hardcore D&D rules.

On another note: I am hoping that my berzerker(fighter) won't have too few hit points as the game progresses, since I am running on the roll of the die instead of a guaranteed max. If this ends up being a severe problem, is there the equivalent of SK for NWN?

There are console (dm) commands that can alter many things.
http://nwn.bioware.com/dms/commands.html

There are also character editors out for NwN, but I've never used any, so I can't tell much about them. I once found a thing called "gff-editor" which could be found somewhere on the Bioware site.

Although - console commands are way faster for what they can, but the editor can do many other things (I think).
