I hear you say TOB is easy?

I've seen a few post here claiming that TOB is easy...I say...no...it is not. If you play the game long enough you will come to realize that it is HARD...its only easy after you been through a particular fight once and either died or ran away that you know how to approach it. I gauratee if you wander into fights thinking things will be easy because say your thief can use any item..you will be reloading a lot. I'm not talking about petty fights with underlings...those are obviosly easy..but the bosses and thier minions are tough...so far I've fought the demorgorgon, grumnair, yaga shura, dragons, sandai, magic golems...to mention a few and these guys are tough no matter what level your party is. take sandai or example...she the third bhaalspawn you fight the drow one...getting past her minions will almost deplete you of all your spells and abilities that by the time you reach her and i won't spoil it by telling you how she fights...you will be feeling the pain. I'll just say save a few true sight spells for this fight or you will beaten to a pulp without ever seeing who did it.

Hmmm Magic Golems... I think they are the easier golems in the game. You need just 2 tanks with some decent magic protection to jump them with boots of speed and cleave them apart. My PC paladin and Keldorn barely break into sweat with them.

Magic golems...I just did what one of the books in the game said...attack them with ordinary weapons (non-magical) and you can take them out easy...I understand that's the only way to hurt them...I dunno, i may be wrong...

magic golems are very easy to kill if you are one of those that read books you find otherwise...you just go rushing them with you mighty +5 weapons and come up empty cause you don't have any non-magical weapons on you...however once you know how to kill them...they are pathetically easy.

He, I ran into the same problem with the golems. I had no non magical weapons.. but Edwin had 1 polymorph self spell....

I'll admit that I was one of them that said it was easy and to a point it is. I of course am now playing this "solo." At first, those fire giants, and elite fire giants were sooo difficult to kill. But then, again you just have to know how to lure them away and attack. I took out all giants in the mountain gaining at least 2 levels in the process. Some of those items you pick up in there help, not to mention warrior skills.
I haven't got to where you are at yet glory, but bosses aren't that hard either. I killed the fire guardian Buier or something like that without too much trouble, just a couple of potions. I don't know the if experience you get is an accurate indicator of difficulty, but he gave me 50,000. Also, you've had the benefit of using other party members while I have not.
I'll keep you guys posted on how this turns out, especially with Yagu-whatever his name is.

Its cool to see you trying to solo TOB...especially with a monk...im my opinion you will definately run into some trouble with the new dragons...espcially because now they dont fight alone and you can't force attack while they are still blue...there are 2 in particular that will most likely kill any soloist a number of times before or if you can even kill them...draconis and his dad abizageal...let me know if and how you dealt with these guys...

I definately agree with glory here , TOB is not easy . Sendai was the most challenging opponent i had ever encounter.Even with my archmage i had to reload several times to keep my party alive and kill the drow. The dragon i fought was rather easy to Sendai but way harder than SOA dragons. By the way Improved Alacrity and Summon Planatar are very Powerful spells. Casting those helped me overcome many challenging situations.

One of the developers claimed to have soloed with a monk, so it's definitely possible. I really don't know how you'd kill Melissan, though. I guess if you have a lot of whirlwinds and are lucky enough that she doesn't cast time stop and attack you...

most of ToB is not terribly difficult i must say, but certain places are a pain and that still makes the game interesting. also, there are certain monsters in the game the casts imprisonment which will get rid of your character off the bat. no save...no nothing..you lose. so along with your god-like powers comes some very annoying pests.

sorta balanced imho.

Since I'm 93% magically resistent, it really doesn't matter what magic any mage would send after time stopping me. So when I get there, I'll let you know.
As for the second Bhaal child, no problem. I just put hardiness on and then whirlwind and he was gone. Now on we go...
Should I go to watchers Keep? Or should i just continue with the storyline? Remember, I'm a monk so unless there is some fabulous non weapon or non armour there then I'll just follow the story line.
I'll keep you guys posted on how I fare with the third Bhaal child as well as the dragons...it may take many a reloads, but who knows what quivering palm can do?

The melee heavy parties are haveing an easy time with ToB in my opinion, its the caster heavy parties that are finding it hard.

Monks Rule:
glad to hear you took care of yaga shura and grumnair...although those are those 2 seemed far easier than anything else..its funny i killed grumnair with one dragons breath from edwin and yaga shura with one whirlwind from my inquisitor...anticipate tougher battles with the rest...especially the ones that cast time stop then melee you to dead or almost dead...while you just stand there and watch...there are a few that do that...i have no idea how you will handle the ones that summon oogles of minions with no place to hide from them...

Heres a big tip for your caster heavy party...memorize as many wish spells as you can...use it to cast hardiness on the whole party...if you do keep doing it and using the last wish spell to restore the party...guess what...you may only have 1 figher but he aint gonna get hurt in melee...although...this strategy won't work against caster heavy opponents.

The multiple wish tactic wouldn't work in PnP: with each casting of (limited) wish, you'd age a few years. (This even happened with Haste)
I really *loved* the way PnP would handle powerful spells...

Bah, I only used spells on *non* bosses. If you take the time to go through *all* of BGII:SOA and get every item that sets your strength to levels over 18 it's not a problem. When fighting a boss I just turn off the AI, and bumrush everything in my way with all my characters, thieves, mages, clerics, fighters. They're all unstoppable. Even Imoen is a harrowing death godess. Then again I've had a lot of time to pracice. I have beaten BG, BG:TOS, IWD, IWD:HOW, (BGII, and BGII:TOW should be pretty obvious at this point), so I know what to expect ahead of time, plus I can make my non-fighters reasonably effective in close combat.

Yes...the bum rush technique seems to be the best way to deal with the major bosses in TOB (excluding dragons) cause they'ed just eat you up or knock all of you off the screen.

Glory, I am up to Sendai now...drow were a problem...the multitudes of them. I'll post when I defeat Sendai.
BTW anyone know if this is a bug or not? During the graveyard lich quest for Marlowe, I got to keep the daughters Soul and give it to Marlowe. Result is a 5000 exp. differential if you get Marlowe to stay alive. Plus you get to keep the soul. Since, I am Lawful Neutral I could use it.

I faced Sendai with little difficulty, I had more trouble keeping my other party members out of the way. I did see Draconis for the first time, and had to reload. Killing him will be tougher, but not impossible. Still have to try out quivering palm on Draconis.

I thought you were soloing your monk...if you have other party members then thats different.
