I'm an experienced RPG player, have played BG1, and most of BG2. I haven't ever come across a problem like the one I have now.

I killed the lich in the Bridge district, and took the body part (torso?). I put it in my inventory, and I remember seeing it on multiple occasions. Then, after reading the walkthrough (I know, I've sinned, but you can only go so long (like 30 hours) and still can't find where to take something), I went to the lich in the docks district. I agree to find his body, but... what? The torso is GONE! WTF?

Can anyone help me? Can an item such as this be "refound?" Could a pickpocket type person stole it? Should I murder every beggar (you know its them...) in the town? I'm lost.

By the way, I didn't drop it. I'm 99.9% sure.

Poot. I tend to have the same thing happen with the weapon components. Quest items are, theoretically, non-degradable- that is to say, if you dropped it somewhere, it should remain there.

However, going on an Athkatla-sized pixel-hunt isn't much fun. Just get shadowkeeper and dump it into your inventory.

I've had a few things go missing from my inventory when I forgot to keep a few slots open for "gifts".

Anyway, you can also use the console to get the torso back. Just enter the following:

CLUAConsole:CreateItem("miscay")

For the legs, use miscaw instead of miscay.

Have you Kevin's anti-item-eating patch? You might meet some of nishru family. I had some rings and weapon consumed by them before, though i doubt if they can eat any item. Nonetheless, IMHO, i've lost a hammer occasionaly. Not sure, though. Definitely they could take magical rings (ring of Free Action, for example) if you're without patches, nonetheless, and official patch is not complete.
