System Shock 2 Graphics Problem

When I'm playing System Shock 2 and I either use a Psi Skill or get near radiation, the game starts to go haywire. Parts of the screen turn white, and the game freezes, but the sound/music keep running. Any idea why this happens?
I'm 100% sure that my computer's above the specifications; the game doesn't require that much power.

At first I would guess it's having some problems with lighting or a texture, especially with parts of the screen turning white. The game is far too old to use any DirectX T&L functions, so it may be a corrupt texture file. Have you tried copying your savegames and reinstalling?

I just tried reinstalling with a full install instead of a normal and though the problem isn't as bad, it's still there. Much less of the screen turns white and it doesn't turn white; it turns into a beige kind of colour.
EDIT: Just tried to use a psi power again and this time, the entire screen but the main character's arm and the target went black (the arm and target turned yellow and white.

This is what the developers have to say on this issue:
"System Shock⢠2 FAQ
Technical
When I play the game I experience graphics glitches, it crashes, etc.
Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card. Check that your video card and other system elements meet the minimum specification for the game.
Make sure that you are not running other applications at the same time, including virus checkers and other background processes. "
What type of video card are you using, and have you checked the driver version?

I think I'm using an Asus MX400 (GeForce 2) V7100, I've gotta check...I'll go see if there are any newer drivers to download.

EDIT: Nevermind, found out I had to add a line to a file to make the patch work. Thanks for the help
