It's been a while, but I'm trying Evil this time

So I'm gonna try an evil party this time through. It'll be a 4 member party: Shar-Teel, Viconia, Edwin, and a PC. My dilemma is whether to make the PC a vanilla thief or a multi/dual. I was thinking of a Fighter/Thief just cause it's so much easier to start. Any thoughts on the PC dilemma or if the party even looks good. I've only ever used Viconia and Edwin but not for very long and never Shar-Teel, so this will be new for me. I haven't even played the game in at least 6 months. It's been so long.

Nice choice, but try adding Kagain. He is very much better than Shar-Teel, because eventually you are able to rise him to CON 22, and this means regeneration ability.
Shar-Teel could be a great fighter, buy her low CON (9) really sucks. She gets killed every time you have a hard combat against a "big bad guy".
If you're going to create a fighter/thieve, why just don't you try Montaron? He's not bad at all... The rest of the party is OK, there's not a lot of choices when you play the evil party... Perhaps you may try other characters not so good as these 5, for instance Skie & Eldoth, etc.

Shar-teel has weaknesses like any other npc, but she is a fine fighter. And since Skuld isn't exactly new to this game

he doesn't need an über party.
Eldoth and Skie are great. I love Skie's soundset. She's not the greatest thief in Faerun though, so maybe you can divide the thieving abilities between Skie and your pc.
How about this party:
PC - f/t
Viconia
Sharteel
Edwin
Eldoth
Skie

Thanks Coot. As I was trying to decide last night I decided I wanted to try Eldoth and Skie, but you get Skie so late so I might as well make a PC hale-elf F/T just cause it's easier to start. I'm using Garrett's (from Thief: the Dark Project) portraits and soundset because it's the greatest game ever made. I've used Kagain before, but from what I hear of Shar-Teel she's worth a try and could be just as good if not better. Just for the sake of posting them, here are my PC's stats (I took the first roll and did my best to mirror Coran's stats):
str 14
dex 18
con 12
int 14
wis 9
cha 18
profs: bows **
small swords **
What I would like is to give him a different appearance. Any ideas? I have sword coast keeper for the sole purpose of aestetically modifying my characters and if I realized later on that I really wanted to put that prof point somewhere else, but nothing on the list looks all that good. If I were a bard I'd go for a noble or maybe volo but i'm a thief.

Well, the trouble with changing your avatar is that most of them don't have fighting animations. I once created a female cleric of Talos, called her 'Roseanne' and used SK to give her the apearance of a fat woman. The trouble is, you didn't ever see her swing a mace or cast a spell. She could, of course, and she did, but the game wouldn't show you.
You could use certain monsters though, although you wouldn't see (them using) the weapons, armor etc.
I used a winter wolf avatar for a brief time. When he used a short sword to attack, on screen it would like he was biting the enemy. When using a crossbow it'd look like he was spitting bolts

To edit in Baldur´s Gate1 you will need Gatekeeper.
You can get it on the same page.
Shadowkeeper is for Baldurs Gate2.
I usually do minor changes, so i make my fighter/mage look like a mage instead of a fighter etc.
