I am having an assertion failer message and the game crashs when I enter a house In BG central. The screen in the middle with the gate dividing the North and South. On the east side there is a house. You cant't see the door but can get the icon to enter from the west side of the building. It is also the southern most building in that string of buildings.

When I enter I recieve a message that says An Addsertion failed in D:\ Game area cpp at line # 3752 pro ceative file not fround Girl.Bat


The game crashes. My computer is fine. Both patches installed. I also have T.o.t.S.C. installed.
Any help or explanation would be great plus an help with spoiler if I can't get it up around this problem.

This is a known bug. There's an invalid reference in the code. The game crashes for everyone when they try to enter that house; it's not just you.

The Baldurdash Fix Pack for Baldur's Gate corrects the error. But as you'll see if you enter that house, there's nothing in it and you're not missing anything.

Thanks a bunch for that most inspiring tidbit. There must be threads unlimited with this one I take it.
So even with the patch its a nill house or what?
Please M. VonDondu or anyone tell me a bit if you can about The Baldurdash fix patch. I heard this is an unoffical patch but don't know the significant details.
does it fix other issues?
should I down load it?
Where do I down load it?, File planet, game spy?

The Baldurdash webpage explains just about everything. All of the fixes can be downloaded separately, so you can install the ones you like and ignore the ones you don't want. Or you can download the main file and install all of them.

Game banshee walkthrough mentions this bug too. I got into the house, I dont remember what patches I have though, but theres nothing in it. Just another peasant house, maybe one chest upstairs with 7 gold and a bookcase with some unimportant book in it, just like 50 other houses in the game. I would just avoid the house entirely.

I seen that it was mentioned after the fact.
When I went in there I got like (a $185.00 Goldin stuff), stuff (Gold, scroll, book and some throwing daggers.
I know lame but whatever.
