I always like the ability to heal myself, so I chose to use a Cleric in NWN. (In Baldur's Gate I used a Paladin, who can heal himself somewhat.)
My issue is...I whipped through NWN soooo quickly, because the cleric spells are so freakin powerul that even dragons are easily defeated. Shoot...I beat two dragons at the same time and didn't lose one single hp! (Using Harm and Destruction spells, while carrying the staff of command and pre-casting spell protection)

I'm so disappointed. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was awesome destroying everything I faced in seconds, but Baldur's Gate was a lot tougher and more satisfying to play. I played Baldur's Gate for months and months and months, but I beat NWN within ONE freakin' month!

Did anyone else find this game entirely too easy with a Cleric??

My son is playing as a Paladin/Rogue and is having a VERY hard time. (Always needing those healing potions)


Also, can I change my class to start leveling up as a Sorcerer...like in the expansion packs? (And still keep my cleric abilities?)

Healing in a world of damage of cause make things easier.
But the game is rather easy to begin with, and most character combinations and players should have little problem through most parts of the game - especially when you have a little experience with the game.
But yes, the game is relative easy and clerics are massive powerhouses in the
"3(,5) D&D" ruleset to begin with - especially because they don't need to memorize healing spells anymore, but can cast them spontanous.


Also - you can't compare the timeframe you spend on BG with the timeframe on NwN because NwN is much shorter then BG.
It isn't untill you calculate both of the expansions for NwN that you would start getting closer to the scope of BG in NwN.
Also - there would be many modules made by the community, and I'm sure one can find some harder ones out there.

Multiclassing in NwN and "3(,5) D&D" rules are very simple. You can multiclass into allmost any base class you wish, and you dosen't loose any abilities from your classes when multiclassing. Basically - you decide each time you level up what class you whish to level up in.
An XP penalty can be attached to the multiclassing though - so check the manual on multiclassing, it has a section on the topic, and I'll advice you to read that first because it might answer many of your questions. Otherwise - just post back here.




Btw - just in closing - if your son is having big problems, tell him to pick up the "Greater Belt of the Brawler, Greater Belt of the Archer and Greater Belt of the Swordman, and shift between which one is equipped depending on what damage his opponents make. They are the most powerfull item in the original NwN in my oppinion, and they are availble from some stores so you can buy them early if you have the cash.

I think I'm going to level up one more time with my Cleric, to get the level 9 spells (I want that GATE spell bad!!) and then multiclass into a Sorcerer or Wizard. I wanna be able to use some of those cool offensive spells and wizardry. I've never multiclassed before, so I wil definitely need to read up on it.

As for the modules made by the community, do you have to play online? or can you download the whole module to your PC. I've never played online with NWN OR BG...

Well, multiclassing is cool... new spells, new habilities... consider turning into thief or perhaps sorcerer... mage if you have the guts... make nice games, them multiclassed chars...

There should be plenty of single player modules out there - I've not tried any myself, but I know they exists.

Try to go to the bioware site: http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/modules.html and see what you can find.
There is also the: http://nwvault.ign.com/index2.shtml where you can find many interesting stuff.

Luis, I think I'm gonna try to combo with the Sorcerer... Maybe I'll try a couple different combos with my Cleric and see what works best... A Cleric/Mage sound pretty cool.

I don't really have a whole lot of interest in the Thief or even the Barbarians or grunts. I like the spell casting stuff...
