Elder Scrolls: Arena free!

Post by Moonbiter »

I can't BELIVE it's been 10 years since they put this one out! Oh, how time flies when you're having fun! And now they're offering it for free, so all you wet-behind-the-ears little snots can see what started the whole knees-up in the first place! :D

Congratulations Bethesda! One can only hope that the sterling work continues, and that other developers learn from your example. :)

Like Daggerfall much better - so if I get nostalgic - I'll play that instead :D

(if I can get it to work under WinXP - haven't tried that yet :D )

I stopped playing Daggerfall when I got stuck in a wall 300 meters bellow ground, with a Lich fondling my nipples, while the automap told me I was outside, and the game told me my last Save was corrupt.

Still, It's on the shelf... ;)

Yeah - Daggerfall definately had some bugs. I remember having to patch a few times just to be able to play that game :D
But after that I did spend a lot of time in that game.

It was absolutely brilliant, except for the automap. Whoever thought that one up must have been on heavy drugs.

I downloaded it and it looks quite interesting. Haven't played it yet. But I have a question...how the hell can I attack!? I'm armed, the weapon's in my hand but I simply can't hit any target...

I think I'm too young for all those pixels :D . It looks familiar to me, all the classes and the world of Tamriel, but I don't think I can play this, it's just too damn slow for these days, but 10 years ago it would probably have been much fun to play it.

Hey, some of you played it...you don't remember how to attack? I tried out everything...is it a bug? Or isn't it possible to attack the enemies in the dungeon at the beginning? I've a shortsword, but even if I try to fight unarmed it doesn't work. I really want to play it, but you know...

EDIT:Alright, I found something on the official Forum:
"Equip sword/dagger/... and any armour you may have. ckick done. click done. now, ckick on the icon next to char. portrait.(swords of something) now you should have a sword ready. rightclick and move the mouse from left to right (or other directions). the sword should swing." I haven't tried it out yet...

Hi i'm new.

It's a great game, but I have a major problem. I worked out how to get started, figured out how to get it running faster (ctrl F12 unytil it says about 7000 at the top of the Dosbos thing (you can go higher if you want)), but i cant for the life of me work out how to save.

Help please

Hold down your left mouse button (LMB) and make a motion with the mouse. This was supposed to duplicate the "sword swinging." To thrust, hold LMB, move mouse upward (a stabbing motion, get it?) and release LMB. There are eight different attacks.

Edit: It may be the RMB (Right Mouse Button). It has been nine years, and I can't get DosBox to work right....yet. To busy learning to mod.

enjoy your nostalgy goodness!
