I have HOTU but not SOU. In the HOTU manual it says on epic multiclassing "Damien is a 9th level rogue / 10th level assasin. he has 19 character levels.

After gaining 1 more rogue level he will be a 20th level character and can then put his next level in assassin, becoming BOTH an epic assassin and AN EPIC ROGUE.

As I has understood it, in the above example he would be an epic assassin and an epic character but not an epic rogue.
Am I wrong or is the manual wrong?

Actually you wouldn't be an epic anything, 10 Rogue/10 Assassin only adds up to 20 levels.

Oops, my mistake. And no (or yes, you are correct), according to the proper rules he should not be an epic rogue. Which page is this anyway?

No, I believe that the manual in incorrect in this instance (10 Rogue is most certainly NOT epic).

I agree that it looks to be the manual that is in fault there.

I think they have substituted rogue for character

A level 10/11 "class"/"prestige class" is not an epic "class", but an epic "prestige class" and epic character.

To be an epic rogue - one has to attain 21 levels of rogue.

However....

I just tested, and using the console to *cough* modify *cough* a character, I was able to select from the "Epic Rogue Feats" list as a 10/10 rogue/assassin when leveling to 11/10 rogue/assassin.
I just shortly tested with "Blinding Speed" when leveling to 11/10.

So it does seem as the game does infact consider a 10 rogue as epic rogue if the character level is above 20.
I don't think the game makes the distinction between epic base classes and epic characters at all. The only restriction there seems to be a prestige epic class one has to have 10+ levels of that class, but it dosen't seem to be in effect for the base classes.

Should maybe do some more testing on this, but can't be bothered, cause it is minor

Could that have anything to do with the fact that rogues get specials feats above 10th level??

The reason I'm interested is I'm contemplating a fighter/dwarven defender character, first I'll get 10/10 and then If I get get epic bonus feats by leveling the fighter up. I'll do that.

Has anyone done any testing on this??

If not could someone give me a link to a mod that levels you up above 20th so I dont have to play for hours just to see igf something works

You can simply use the console to give yourself XP.

THere is a command named:

GiveXP "amount"

So firstly - enter debugmode by typeing in your chatbox:

##DebugMode 1

then give yourself the XP amount you whish, for instance enough 100.000 :

##GiveXP 100000

then target your character.

To exit debugmode when you are done, type:

##DebugMode 0

(remember the ## - they are needed for typing console commands from the chatbox, you can also access the console directly by pressing the console button, which varries on game version).

If you test it, be sure to tell us what the result is, if you get access to epic fighter feats or what not.

Actually I forgot to look after that one - all I noticed was that I could select from the epic rouge feat list (Blinding Speed)mentioned in the manual as level 11 rogue when my character level was 21.

I did some of my own testing and it seems that i don't get the Epic Rogue flag though I can get epic feats as bonus feats (dispite being rogue 11). This also seems to work for Fighter bonus feats.

Well - some epic feats should be allowed, because you are an epic character.
Question is wether or not the game "thinks" of you as an epic rogue, which was why I used epic rogue feats from the list in the manual.

I don't think the game 'thinks' of you as an epic Rogue. The Rogue/Fighter bonus feats were probably programmed to allow you to get bonus epic feats at non-epic levels but because you didn't meet the prerequisites they were not displayed. In other words Bioware cut corners on the job.
