Map Scrolling Problem

I just started PS:T for the first time, and so far I'm really liking it! I noticed something weird though, which I'm not sure is supposed to happen or not. I am completely unable to scroll the map! Putting my mouse at the edge of the screen (a la BG, IWD, etc.) does not move the map (I'm talking about during gameplay, not the map screen). I have to have the game follow the character in order to even see where I'm going. What's going on?

Your view is centered on the character. There is a button on the main interface to toggle this on and off.

I understand that, but when I toggle it off, I am still unable to move the screen.
I have noticed that I can for the first thirty seconds or so after loading a game, but after that, it goes back to not being able to scroll other than if i have it center on a character, as I mentioned in my first post.

Hmm, and the arrow keys don't scroll the screen either?

Hmm... I've never tried that, I'm going to go do that now ... The arrow keys do in fact work! But the mouse is still not scrolling properly. Any ideas?

This happens to me from time to time.
My solution: reboot.
Seriously, it's only happened to me after leaving my computer on all night, and it never fails that rebooting solves the problem.
Go figure that one out.

When that happens to me, my cat is the culprit. (He likes to press the keys on my keyboard.)

That doesn't really explain my situation. We have no pets.
So unless someone in my family is sitting at my computer and hitting buttons, that isn't the culprit (and I hope they aren't, because they are adults after all

).
I'd also like to know why I can have a thac0 of 3 and +8 to hit and still miss on all but critical hits for long periods of time, but I doubt there will be an answer for that except, "Hmm... Sounds like a bug."
But, such is life.
