I am a monk. I put two items in the chest with the scroll. I can't cast any spells to make the items. I try using scroll but nothing. Is there anyway for me (henchman) to cast the spell to make the chest work? Am I out of luck?

id say if you can't cast a scroll yourself then yes, because you can't make your henches cast spells xept in expansion I believe

Most magical item creation using tomes can't be done withouth a spell casting character.

You need to place the two items in one of the special wizards lab/chest and cast the requiered spell on it. It is not enough to place the scroll in the chest.

Some places where similar things are neasecay for summoning and that sort - you will be able to find an item or wand that can cast the spell for you.
I won't spoil you, because you may or may not have found them - but there are at least 2 places I remember where you need to summon something, and both places you can find an item that will cast a spell for you.

But otherwise - it is a for the magic using classes to create such items from tomes.
