Kay I have a question - seems the elven chick and I are getting along pretty well - is it the same kinda romance as in Bg2 ? If i ask her to leave the party for a while will it break the romance ?

Well by leaving her out of the party you may miss some romance triggers so I suppose yes (though you may be able to go back for them), but dropping her for one second then getting her back won't break the romance.
