Hardest Dragon

What is the hardest dragon to defeat? I have only killed the red and shadow dragons, but the shadow dragon seemed easy compared to the red. Which dragon(s) seemed hardest for you, and why?

Red dragon (haven't fought Silver though). It just kicks my butt. When I tackled it early, it killed me. Later on, it killed me and I could have sworn it could do things that it wasn't doing before.

That flame attack was nasty, once my PC died under one burst of that. Ouch.

Only time I killed it was just as it killed me.

For me, the red dragon was the hardest the first time I played...the shadow dragon is just being a pain this time, tho. By far, the black dragon was a cake-walk for me.

I killed Firkraag without much toruble, but I had played a lot of the game before I met him. There is the friendly white/silver (not sure which) dragon that makes your party look like Drow. If you attack, that seemed a VERY hard fight. Comments?

I think Firkraag is the toughest, mainly because he can heal himself-but only if you bring him down to near death and you retreat from the battle, giving him the time to cast heal.Until badly wounded,he don't cast heal.

Adalon is equal to him in battle and she is specialized in cold-based spells. She is somewhat easier mainly because you can take advantage of her dungeon an defeat her-she can't follow you inside the corridor of her lair, but you can retreat there and keep sending her monsters, hacking her with spells etc.Besides, she casts on herself cure medium(or serious?)wounds and not heal.

Shadow dragon is nasty, because of level drain. If you remove his stoneskin fast, then you have the upper hand.

Black and green are the easiest,in my opinion.Black is a little tougher-he casts summon insects.Since you face them near the end, most parties are very powerful and can handle them. Also green dragon wields only 22000 exp-i think this is the lowest amount of exp you gain for killing a dragon.

Fierkrag gets my vote. Avalon the silver dragon may be harder, but being of good character I have never fought her.

i was just wonderin if you guys fought the dragons after talking to them, or before? i didn't have any trouble with any of the dragons (i never fought silver) but i never gave them a chance to cast any protections or anything. I didn't have a dragon last over 15 seonds. (i had a full party with a few summoned monsters) i was just wonderin.

This may be a little off subject but I found the easiest way to kill the dragons was to set traps using Yoshimo (early in the game) or a created Bounty Hunter. It worked real well for me, I had the Shadow Dragon and Firkraag at near death before the fight started. =)

well, cloudkill is eaiser, certainly another chessy method, and u'll struggle after yoshimo is dead with the black dragon.

but anyway, dragon isn't that hard if you have sufficient levels

When I fought the shadow dragon in temple ruins, Viconia used Flame Strike, a lvl 5 priest spell, and it did 44 points of damage...very nice :-)

I think that the Shadow Dragon was the hardest. His level drain breath was big pain, and his wing buffets seemed to do more damage than Firkaags. He also got my whole party to run in fear. When i fought the red dragon i had got all the dragon killing stuff from his dungeon and the ring of fire resistence and put it all on my fighter and put him behind the dragon. Casted haste, pro fr evil 10radius, bless. Jan summonded a wizards eye, Jaheria:Fire elemental, Anomen:Aerial servant, Edwin:Spiders. I had Jaheria cast magic reisitence and Jan lower reisitence. Then Jan and Edwin casted Magic missile, Jaheria:Insect plague, Anomen:Bolt of Glory. The spiders died quickly, and Firky dispelled my wizards eye.The aerial servant did tons of damage, and so did my fighter. He wing buffeted the rest of my party away and then used his fire breath. The fire elemental and my fighter took really little damage. I fired a few more magic missiles and a holy smite. A few more hits from my fighters and Valgyar w/ice arrows and he was dead.

I would say the Shade dragon, took me ton of tries and checking these boards but I never resorted to the cheesey cheating ways (cloudkill, traps). Unfortunately I didnt have a breach spell or equivalent in my party so I couldnt dispell his prot. from magic weapons spell. The way I finally won is that a polymorph other actually worked and turned him into a squirrel!! Image You may think the battle was over then, but his wing buffets still worked (?) and even after the protections wore off he was still one tough squirrel with spells and tons of hp!
