alchemist apparatus

I have placed the proper items on the apparatus and cast the proper spell but it still does not work... I am casting it on the apparatus itself..Is this correct?
For example:
quartz crystal and skeleton knuckle and cast mage armor on the table? And it mentions something about an amulet? Do I need to add this or is that what it makes?

Don't know what the problem is, sorry.
The usual procedure for using such apparatus is placing the (often two) ingredients and casting the spell on the apparatus- like you say you are doing.
I don't know if it is a bug or not - although it might seem so.
What chapter are you in? Maybe it will work with a different apparatus/wizard chest.?

I am currently in chapter 2. Is there different apparatus' for different spells and ingredients?

No there shouldn't be. As far as I know - or have tried - all Apperatus should be able to make the items. There are also some chests called "Wizards Chest" that works like them.
But I have never encountered - or heard of - that problem before, so I can't really help much

It must be something im doing wrong, oh well I will figure it out I guess.
