locked doors

Greetings, all. I'm new to this game. How do I find the keys to locked doors and how do I use them? Thanks to anyone who can help.
Most doors have to be either picked or bashed down if locked.
Only a few requirs a key, and if they do - you will be told when trying to opening it.
