Finally decided to reinstall PS:T for another re-run. Seeing that my original CDs were scratched to death (only CD1 actually but that doesn't matter...), I borrow a copy from the local library. However I get a runtime error (screenshot attatched) every time a new area should be loaded (when I exit the mortuary or at the end of the beginning cinematic). There were however no errors when I was moving between different floors in the mortuary...
I found the following on interplay's website:
I found the following on interplay's website:
I'm running winXP and there is no "performance" tab after I click on properties... Where can I make the changes?Q: I am getting a runtime error or the game is just crashing when loading a new area.
A: This will happen most often when the area file has copied over incorrectly from the CD. You will want to do the following:
Right click on "My Computer"
Select "Properties"
Click on the "Performance" tab
Click on "File System"
Clcik on the "CD-ROM" tab
Under "Optimize access pattern for" select "No Read Ahead"
Click on "OK"
Click on "CLOSE"
The system will want to restart for these changes to take effect. Click "YES" to restart.
Delete all area files contained within the C:\Program Files\Black Isle\Torment\CACHE\ folder.
Rerun the game
