what does it mean when the attack bonus is +7/+2/+1?

does that just mean the person can attack several times (even with missle ranged weapons)??

It means extra attacks, yes.

I don't know about ranged weapons tho.

A character who gets multiple attacks bonuses gets multiple attacks in one round.
So when a character has an attack bonus of +7/+2/+1 he can attack 3 times. The first time with an attack bonus of +7, second +2 and his last attack at +1.

This is the same for ranged and melee attacks.
Don't forget to add your other bonusses, strength modifier for melee and dexterity modifier for ranged.

Rob-hin,

If your real name is Robin and you live in Peterborough, I think I know who you are...

I guess I don't know you.

The guy I'm thinking about is an english goth. (Long hair, trench coat etc).

I use to play D&D with him "years" ago.

Are you still playing?

Yes, with my cusin and a few buddies.

There was a "Long" stretch of time where I wanted to play, but no one else did.

A crossbow does not grant iterative attacks (that's what more attacks with lower bonus after the first are called), because you need to reload after each shot. This can be overcome by using a repeating crossbow or an enhancement from Magic of Faerûn (forgot its name though)

Rapid Reload...

I'm disapointed, Mr. Waesel, you should know the feat list... I don't know if you guys are still playing the 3rd edition... c'mon, read the Player's Handbook v3.5. There's a feat called rapid reload: "The time required for you to reload your chosen type of crossbow is reduced to a free action (for a hand or light crossbow) or a move action (for a heavy crossbow). Reloading a crossbow still provokes an attack of opportunity." you can make all the attacks you BAB lets you... let's K.O. that ugly orcs...

I know rapid reload, it first appeared in Sword and Fist.

Anyway, it doens't grant iterative attacks on all crossbows (only lght ones and hand ones, and the last are exotic, IIRC), so I ignored it, for a more general statement.

spells?

one question... can i cast more than one spell if my attack bonus allows me to? acid arrows, for intance... one with a +6 bonus and another with a +1 bonus?

I think spells and attack bonusses aren't related, in number of attacks anyway. You are limited to one spell per round.
Your attack bonus does count if you do a touch attack or ranged touch attack.

If you have multiple attacks as a wizard and you need to make a tough attack, you use your highest bonus. If you miss (with a melee touch attack), you can hold the charge. If you hit, the spell discharges.

If you cast two of these spells per round due to the quicken spell feat, they are both at the highest bonus.

okis...

well... even a powerful wizard has something to learn sometimes... thanks for your "lessons"... they'll be very useful when I destroy a cleric that I prefer to call a "Prize Hunter". Halfling: "Oh please... they're destroying our city, they killed my family!!! could you help me, please? I have no one else..."
Stupid Cleric (Lawful Good): maybe, for uh... let me see... 2500gp?

Okay:

1: that isn't Lawful Good. If your DM doesn't change his alignment and/or he continues his extortion, you should (by all means) kill him

2: Money isn't important, favors are much better, especially if you happen to save the daughter of the local godfather (you wouldn't want to extort HIM now would you? ;) )

that's the reason...

his non-lawful good actions are exactly the reason why i want to kill him... he has done other things, such has, in the middle of a battle, searching the dead bodies for gp's (all he thinks about is money). while i'm playing, i just want to help the people that need help, solve the misteries, stuff like that... he only thinks about being the best and more rich. maybe a finger of death... 've been thinking seriously about it...

If that's the way he plays his character, that's the way he plays his character.
I don't think you should kill him because this limits the players experiences. Let him deal with the consequences.

In the quest I'm currently DM'ing there is a gnome bard who thinks money is all that matters, he has the background to back that up too. I don't bother him because of that, but he must deal with what comes from this. This has a result that he sometimes has a IN GAME conflict with the rest but this makes the game better, roleplaying wise.

If he starts searching dead bodies for GP, make him get in trouble because of this. Let one of the bodies be faking his death and stab him with a knife. Let someone attack him. Whatever you can think of at the moment. Just make sure he gets the consequences of his actions, because that is the most important thing.

It will enhance your gameplaying experiences if you deal with the situatuin in a better way then simply killing him. :)

good point, but...

... maybe i didn't explain the situation properly... i don't give a sh**, if he likes money! But he is a "lawful good" cleric... maybe "Obad-Hay" will teach him a lesson, we will see. i'll tell you later what happened to this "good guy"...

I think Bookai meant that thier character's interests conflict. An evil character can play "the way he is" but that means nothing to the paladin in his party...
