Multiplayer Experience points issue

hi.
I've been playing the game on LAN for some time and I noticed that my friend gets more XP than I do.
How come?
Yes, if he's fighting & killing on a different map, I get nothing - that's fine.
I play an "evil" character so i do say things like "what? your mom is only worth 300 gold to you?" and I get like 150 XP for completing that quest (and 75 extra GP) and my friend gets 250 XP (and no gold, hehe
).
How "smart" is the game? Shouldn't it "reward" me for playing my character the way her alignment is?
Do I have to be super-paladin-like-friendly to everybody to get the same amount of XP?
We are both the same level.
Or is it some kind of bug?
Anybody made similar observations or have a clue?
TIA,
Dryelo
