hi.

I've been playing the game on LAN for some time and I noticed that my friend gets more XP than I do.
How come?

Yes, if he's fighting & killing on a different map, I get nothing - that's fine.

I play an "evil" character so i do say things like "what? your mom is only worth 300 gold to you?" and I get like 150 XP for completing that quest (and 75 extra GP) and my friend gets 250 XP (and no gold, hehe :D ).

How "smart" is the game? Shouldn't it "reward" me for playing my character the way her alignment is?

Do I have to be super-paladin-like-friendly to everybody to get the same amount of XP?

We are both the same level.

Or is it some kind of bug?

Anybody made similar observations or have a clue?

TIA,
Dryelo

Well, one possiblity is that you have multiclassed outside your race's favoured class (unless you're human). When that happens, you lose 25% of combat xp brought in (not sure if this effects quest xp, or not).

Another possiblity is that specific quests offer more xp to certain classes and attitudes.

The last one is that the Aurora engine is incredably wonky, and decides to give more xp to weaker classes. Your choice, unless someone can give a more definitive answer :o

NWN's XP calculation is the haziest ever. If the two of you are not in the same party, he gets more if he has a familiar/summoned creature/animal companion/henchman, and you don't. He also gets more if he has a class that BioWare thought needed a little help, like Wizard, and you have a class they thought didn't, like Fighter.

thanks for the tips but....

my char is a halfling rogue, no multiclass

the other is a dwarf fighter also no mulitclass.

and this quest was not the only occasion when he got more XP than me. We're about halfway through chapter 2 and the difference is like 2000 XP.

ah well what the heck... we'll just keep on playing and enjoy the game!

Greets,

I dont know if that's the case in NWN, but in MP-games of BG for explample 15exp is devided 8/7, and the 8exp always goes to the party leader. This could explain the 2000exp difference
