I have set up a few small lan parties. The only problem is the "small" factor. It seems as if everybody else around here aren't interested in it. I can gather around 12 or so, but beyond that ono one else exists. Actually around 6 of them didnt even know what a lan party is. My question is... Are lan parties at all popular in other parts of the world polular or is the whole lan trend dwindling?

Been to a couple at my school but it died out as a lot of my friends from them graduated and didn't attend the following.
Size of thoese were around 15-20 ish, but there aren't many students on my line.

Yes, Lan-party's are pretty popular here (in the Netherlands)
Some are very big (hunderds of people) some are smaller.
In a couple of weeks where gonna have a small LAN with a couple of friends (whe call it LAM (dutch for drunk).
Just 6friends with their PC's and a whole week of drinking, gaming, and eating junkfood.
Cant wait for it to begin, finally 2 of them have met the wonderfull world of the RPG, and i'm realy looking forward to play BG or some other RPG over LAN.
Also some of the turn-based games i like (Age of wonders, deciples, civilization) arent that good for online gaming, but are great for LAN

there are some pretty big ones around the country that some of my mates go to - a few hundred people or so - and smaller ones are fairly common on birthdays and what have you. since my connection sucks so much posterior, I do most of my multiplayer gaming at those, so I love 'em.
