I'm Kev, you'll be seeing me quite a bit.

I'm just going to tell you a little about myself.

I've been playing D&D for about 6 years now and 2nd edition is what I mostly play.

I prefer playing to DM'ing, but because i'm the only bugger who knows the rules I'm mostly the DM.

I like all classes and most races (I can't stand fuggin halflings)

Recently I have been playing original D&D as cleric or Azuth called Lantis. And my cusin is playing and elf. (in orginal D&D an elf was a class).

Anyway, I look forward to spaming the forum.

See you around ;)

Ooh! Finally a fellow 2nd ed. lover!! Please tell me you like it better than the new crap they're putting out...

I used to both play and DM (with dif. groups, on & offline) but haven't been able to as much lately. I'm still DM'ing one online session, but that's the only D&D I'm up to these days; MERP has been taking over. And rightfully so, if you ask me.

Anywho, welcome to the forum, bud!

I hate 3rd edition, mainly because I spent over £200 on 2nd edition stuff, and 3rd came out the next day.

*takes a deep breath*

It's probably superior to 2nd, but I don't care, i'm never going to play it.

(although saying that, I have no choice if I want to play "Baldurs Gate: Dark Allience", "D&D heros" or any other D&D video game)

I do still buy Dragon magazine, as stuff can easily be converted to 2nd ed.

Also: 3rd edition is far to "politically correct". I heard that you can have weird stuff like Halfling paladins, and multi classed Bards. That just ruins the game in my opinion.

On the video games subject, has anyone played "Dungeons & Dragons, warriors of the eturnal sun" for the Saga Megadrive, (or the "sega Genesis" if you American).

....i'm done

My biggest problem with 3rd ed is that they made all the PC's too powerful. They gave gajillions of bonuses to everybody. Remember the good old days when you used to get 1-4 hitpoints and another spell slot? And then every three levels your Thac0 would go down by one?

*sigh*

But, hey, at least you have to be level five before you can kill a dragon...

Cheers to 2nd edition :D I don't feel like such an old fart still using my battered old 2nd ed books &c now, though I let characters develop appropriate feat-sort of things, special attacks, etc, and I'm loose on some other restrictions, like races for classes, etc. I have some of the 3rd edition stuff mind you, but the improvements didn't seem to outweigh starting a new campain, as we don't have the time to play together a lot. It's all about the role play anyway, IMO... Many changes in character fine-tuning were available on the 2nd ed system with a little DM tinkering and from some of the various rule supplements, like the wizard's guide and the fighter's guide.
