making a complete party

I keep hearing about being able to create whole partys on multiplayer but whenever i try it never works pls HELP?????!!!!!!
Well, define how it's not working,, if it's that your on the multiplayer screen where you assign characters, etc. that means you just need to click new character on each individual slot and assign all characters to yourself.
If it's another problem I porbably know it I just don't like wasting typing.
